Fresh 2.3.3 Released

I'd say battery life has improved for me over 2.1.1 (I didn't flash 2.1.2). In order for me to get a full day's battery out of 2.1.1 I had to disable "Always On Mobile"; now I don't have to. After 12 hours off the charger (I hadn't fully charged it though), with moderate use, I was down to 40%

There is a slight delay when I try to initialize a call, but it's bearable. I do like the 270 degree rotation.

I decided to give it a whirl. I had no outlook boot loop, flashed the vanilla lockscreen I used w/2.1.2 and had no trouble, just a very long boot time after the flash. I'm gonna have to let it cook for a few days to make any decisions on my love for the battery life.

sigh.... Ti Backup didnt work. tried another backup on the market and it didnt backup the apps like it said it would. basically lost all my informaiton and stupidly forgot to nandroid. total brain fart. ive done this a ton of times and never forgot before. Swype is gone and im crying lol. i have to see if i can find an apk somewhere now.

The apps aren't on your memory card? Most back-up apps put them in a zip file or in their own directory.

Titanium worked perfect for me. It just required a reboot after the restore. My problem is that my Fresh Updater does not have all the cool options. I only get the Vanilla locksceen and I really want the 270 rotation. I followed the instructions on geekforme, but the other theme options still won't show up. Anyone else have this problem, or had this problem and got it resolved? If not, I may just wipe and reflash, then skip the Ti Restore and just do it myself. Hmmmmm........options.

EDIT -- I tried the wipe and re-flash option, but I still get no 270 rotation. Has anybody else ran into this?

this is one of the best roms i've flashed. i know many of you may not agree. but personally, this is the fastest, lag-free roms i've tried. i'll be sticking with this for a good while.

ps. i am using the DC710 kernel. so that always helps :)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Now we are talking have it at 710 and memory management. I am rockin and rollin :) Thank you all that have put the time it to this project!

Flashed it last night. Huge battery life improvement for me. I'm pretty stoked about that, btw. The 270 degree rotation is sweet too.

if you had a legal version of Swype, simply look in your downloads folder on your SD card for the Swype installer.. click it to install then install swype like normal. if you didn't have a legal version, then that won't help you at all :D

btw... shapewritter appears to still be in the market..

planning on flashing this today

I used the kitchen to root & flash my last rom though, so I want to make sure I'm doing this right

I copy the zip over to my phone on the computer
reboot into recovery mode
do a wipe
flash 2.3.3

is that the right order of things?

how do I find out which radio will be right for me, anything I need to look for?

eta: do I need to change kernels for this to work?

ok i fig'd out titanium. but 2 things still bugging me:

1) there's vibrate/haptic when i swipe the vanilla lock to unlock it. can i turn off?
2) there's vibrate/haptic on the dialer. could have sworn i could turn this off in ver 2.1.2, but cant seem to find that switch in 2.1.3.

lil help?

I flashed this rom yesterday, after being a big fan of the zen rom. So far, it is very nice, smooth, and without issue. This is a good thing!

I do have a question for those of you who may know...The bar at the bottom, the one that has the up arrow, the phone and "+"...I never know exactly what this is called... Launcher???...anyway, I always thought the + here was superfluous...I like the one that the Zen rom has much better, with the "people" icon. Is it possible to change just this? How difficult would it be? And how would I go about it?

I'm finally getting very comfortable with flashing roms, flashing some mods, (flashed a fix for the menu/menu button waking the phone!) etc. and I am ready to take a stab at some more modding, I just need some clear instructions to follow. Is there a zip file that I can flash to make this change? That would be slick! Thanks!

Anyone noticing exchange email does not sync after awhile? I also had this problem with Zen, but works great with Damage...

This 'ROM' comes with LauncherPro Beta, just download 'home switcher' from the market and enable it, or clear the defaults for sense. You have up to 5 icons in the bottom tray that you can make whatever you like...I love it

Thanks for the suggestion...I've read some about this, but I'm not sure I want to turn off Sense. Will have to ponder this option.

that's the right order..the right radio for you is the one that gives the best signal and best battery life. no need to change kernels.

no way to turn off the haptic in the lock screen or dialer (yet)

I'm not in love with sense, mostly because I don't need 7 home screens, i barely use 3. Until LauncherPro came out, I had been using the vanilla home since day 1. I tried a few replacements, but was never impressed with them. LP Beta has done nothing but impress the hell out of me...I would definitely pay for it :).

With the home switcher, you can try it out without having to turn off sense or change your default home app

Fresh 2.3.2 is great ROM. I love every little bit of it. I have a couple of concerns:
1. I just start a2sd from a 8gb memory card that i got out of my old eris will that cause my app market to lag in anyway?
2. When I am in my Dolphine Browers or Es file explorer my phone restarts tself..
Does anyone know what would casue this problem?
3. My call log is running a laggy as well? Is the call log connected to the sd card when you a2sd?

There actually is now! I flashed a "camera fix" (which brings back the shutter sound) and a by-product is removal of the haptic feedback! Let me see if I can find the link.

Edit: here--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=703267 First post, at the bottom. Be sure to nandroid first! Download and flash the "update_signed.zip".

one more question, when I download the zip, do I copy the zip file to phone, or extract it to the phone?

and this may seem silly, but which folder do I copy it to?

you copy it to the phone...

no folder..just place it in the root of the SD card

copy it to the root level of the Sd card, then boot into recovery, then select flash zip in the menu

Do not unzip the file.

To be honest, I don't see any improvement coming from 2.1.1. In fact, it has more issues than 2.1.1 did. Scrolling through the screens seems slower than and not as smooth as on 2.1.1. My weather widget is not updating, just says "current location". I can't turn off the haptic feedback; I unchecked it in the settings yet it keeps doing it on all keyboards. Finally, I can't figure out how to turn off sound notifications for emails, and it quite annoying to hear the "blip" every 30 seconds as new emails keep rolling in. There was a way to do it in 2.1.1, but I can't find it anymore in 2.3.3. That's just what I've found after playing with 2.3.3 for about an hour, and I'm already thinking about going back to 2.1.1.
