Fresh 2.3.3 Released

ok.. an update on battery usage.. unplugged from charger at 7:30am.. sent several texts.. downloaded a couple apps.. checked email every hour (ok..I was just waking the phone because I like to play with it).. made/received 4 calls lasting an average of 10 minutes each.... checked facebook a few times.. in other words.. moderate usage..
at 11pm I still had 33% battery left.. not bad after 15.5 hours.. I'll keep checking usage over the next few days as the ROM settles into place (as I get it all setup like I want and stop playing with it all day)..

What?? Are you using an extended battery?

nope.. stock battery.. today was a light usage day.. 13 hours and 70% charge left. I should mention I have 5-6 bar signal. better signal means less power used. if you are always showing 1-2 bars the battery life will suck.

I need more words than that! Explain yourself!

Nevermind!

I'll stick with 2-3 bars, I can't afford 100 bucks :-\

yeah the $100 upfront (plus $5 a month) sucks.. but I had to have it.. it was either that or 0-1bars mostly 0 bars

I'm so happy with the way my phone runs right now with Fresh 2.1.2 after going in and taking soooo much stuff off my phone. I think I'm gonna stick with 2.1.2 for a while, Eventually i might go to 2.3.3. I like the idea of haptic feedback for dialing, but not enough to have to go back in and get rid of all the apps that i've taken off of the phone now and then readd everything onto the phone and try to get it all set back up the way i want it. Yea...

Same here. I hate having to reinstall everything. Sure, can use Astro to back up apps, but then you don't see updates to 'em in market, a total wash.

Ouch! Our nearest tower is uh... I don't know, maybe 2 miles away? That seems so far but i know exactly where it is because i see it every time i'm at my friends house, it's right behind her house lol. Is there a site that will tell you where the towers are? Then i could figure out exactly how far away i am.

Anyways, sometimes i'll unlock my phone and it'll show like 4-5 bars and i'm flabbergasted, and then when i move the phone it goes back to 1-2.

that's the right order..the right radio for you is the one that gives the best signal and best battery life. no need to change kernels.
the right radio for me is defintely the earlier 2.32 Verizon one... stays on one tower and not so hoppy... tried 'em all an it gives more or less the same signal w/ way better battery life than the rest.

I have a tower on my building. 1 story above me. I may get some exotic cancer in 40 years, but I got all bars all the time.

will do. gotta figure out how to get titanium backup working because i'm not about to spend 2 hours installing and customizing apps if i stick with 2.2.3 :)
what's up with titanium, does it restore apps and show updates in market? astro merely saves in backup folder and sure restores... but the apps don't show up in market for updates when they are available.

Edit: OOPS, didn't see post above. Will try Titanium.

Using 710 Kernal with Overclock widget and getting horrible battery life with settings set to:691-384 and off @ 244760-19200

Any recommendations would be nice. Dropped 20% in alittle over an hour.

Was using SetCPU with similar results...

I am going to double post this (here and XDA).

Running fresh 2.3.3

Didn't see much of a difference.

Flashed Darchkernel v4 768 and it screwed my phone up with reboots.

Went back into recover and flashed v4 710 and I have only had one reboot since.

Noticeably quicker, snappier, etc.

Question: With the free mem tweak, do I need to run autokiller?

Hey guys, just flashed Fresh 2.3.3! Seems like lag is reduced significantly, but I have not yet noticed an improvement on battery life.

Also, Titanium backup will help with restoring all apps and system settings, but I had to restart the OS twice after flash in order for my settings to be fully restored.

Lastly, I have a question about nandroid.. If I created nandroid while on the previous version of Fresh, can I use it while running this update? I'm thinking if I do that then my phone would be restored back to 2.2.1...

if you restore a nandroid it will revert your phone back to the exact state it was in when the nandroid backup was made. so if you were on 2.1.2 and made a nandroid, then flashed to 2.3.3 and then restore the nandroid from 2.1.2, yes, you'll be right back on 2.1.2.

Good lookin'.... I was afraid of that. I flashed to 2.3.3, but my dumb ass forgot to save my pics. I did a total wipe and SD format, but I only backed up my music and my Titanium Backup folder to my PC.. All those pics of my new baby are gone, along with the pics of those two hotties I met in Vegas last week..

If you wiped your whole SD... try this to recover the info. I'm an IT guy and have saved my clients many headaches....

Contrary to what others experience with improved battery life after flashing 2.3.3, my battery life has gotten noticeably worse compared to 2.1.1. I was able to get around 40 hours on 2.1.1 (from fully charged to red indicator). After flashing 2.3.3 yesterday and fully charging the phone, it has been less than 20 hours and my battery indicator is down to yellow, which means it will turn red in a couple of hours. All under the same amount of use, same location (i.e. proximity to towers), etc..
