Fresh 2.3.3 Released

Contrary to what others experience with improved battery life after flashing 2.3.3, my battery life has gotten noticeably worse compared to 2.1.1. I was able to get around 40 hours on 2.1.1 (from fully charged to red indicator). After flashing 2.3.3 yesterday and fully charging the phone, it has been less than 20 hours and my battery indicator is down to yellow, which means it will turn red in a couple of hours. All under the same amount of use, same location (i.e. proximity to towers), etc..

I too am having worse battery life... I've also noticed it takes a lot longer to charge up my phone...

Guys with battery issues.

I installed mine yesterday and it drained the battery REALLY FAST.

Today my battery is draining much slower.

I do know that wiping and installing sucks a lot of battery power....

Maybe give it a day or 2 to stabilize?

I had it installed since the day it came out... Monday I believe?

Anyone find this rom to be considerably slower than the 2.1.2 rom? I've been extremely satisfied with 2.1.2 then flashed 2.3.3 and it's sloooooow. I tried it with flashing right over 2.1.2 and with doing a full wipe. Loading any app seems to take an extra 2-3 seconds.

for me it's faster than 2.1.2.. about even with 2.1.1. if battery life stays the same or gets better then I'll stick with it.. if not, then back to 2.1.1 for me (2.1.2 was problematic at best)

My experience with this rom have been great. Battery seems to last a lot longer and it is real snappy but I do have a problem. I've flashed tons of roms and never had a issue getting them on or off. This time it was different. I ended up reformatting my card. I wiped everything, now I have no recovery image. If I hold home and hit the power button (to get to recovery) I get frozen at the htc screen. Is there a way to get a new recovery image? I had real issues getting this to take to my phone. Think it might have had something to do with my apps2sd partition. But yea no green writing at all on my phone now. Can't nandroid or anything Help!!

Edit:flashed a new one from rom manager app fixed I love android

Using 710 Kernal with Overclock widget and getting horrible battery life with settings set to:691-384 and off @ 244760-19200

Any recommendations would be nice. Dropped 20% in alittle over an hour.

Was using SetCPU with similar results...
DarchKernel? My advice is don't run it. Horrible battery life, even if you underclock the heck out of and do NO overclocking it still sucks. I get battery life w/ Fresh Kernel, and the OC isn't worth the hit.

Still new to running rom's and what not. Today (first day of use since flash) the battery was iffy. I do work in an area of spotty coverage from time to time, and I think I have the calender bug? Spare parts and the settings confirmed calender is working ot. Either way, I like the feel of the rom.

what a rocky way to update... i did an install of sprint TV from fresh kitchen in 2.1.2 as I wanted the nandroid to be perfect before updating to this rom, and I had forgot to reinstall this previously. so I do install of sprint tv, and fresh kitchen is acting wacky and taking forever to install this 1MB app so close it, restart, install --> this time quick and easy, no problem. So i'm lazy and don't feel like getting up so run nandroid backup from fresh kitchen, phone reboots, does backup, then reboot - and... the BOOT LOOP OF DEATH. Fresh...fresh...fresh... makes you wanna choke the animated icon. Then I realize, crap... I Just deleted my previous working nandroid 2.1.2 backup before creating this one and this one is obviously fudged. Tried to recover from recuva, tried to salvage the newer android backup but it wouldn't boot. frustrating to say the least

NO IDEA what caused this. Last time, I had a decent backup and it was that adobe viewer stock app that was KNOWN to do this boot loop in 2.1.2.

[sigh]

Anyway... necessary to use connectBot (term emulator) to get rid of unwanted or otherwise useless stock apps or can we still use kitchen? I know I have to use aforementioned for things like google talk (waste of an app if you use multi client app).

things like tweet? sprint zone? pdf viewer (in lieu of native adobe app), es file viewer (in lieu of astro)... why would anyone?

lastly noticed the 3rd party clock isn't there w/ vanilla lock screen 1st choice. is it still necessary i.e. does world clock not shut off or otherwise cause weird quirks like before and does this rom still have the bug w/ airplane mode?

tIA tiA Tia!

some will say yes, some will say no... as long as you did a nadroid before flashing the kernel, then you can always go back

did you flash the fresh 2.3.3 OC 710 undervolt darchshiz #15 kernal? i just flashed it but i dont know how to even notice a difference

ok so i flasherd the new fresh the day it came out and it was great and all, but so many fc:mad: i flashed it twice and it just had so many bugs for me. i like the 270 degreee thing and friendstream but i reverted back to 2.1.2. and it was a breath of fresh air. everytime i tried to use the friendstream widget, sense would crash and restart and the scrolling in people was painfully slow which is weird becuase i did not have any of these problems when i first flashed it and as the days went on it got worse and it the typing was unbearably laggy. its a shame cuz i did like it to a point:(

i just flashed the d710 kernal..so does this mean i dn't need to configure setcpu or put the oc widget on there since it's automatically set within the kernal, or wha? i just flashed it...so is there anything else i need to do?

I've installed the OC Widget, and set it to the specs I want. I'm not sure that it is required, however, if you are happy with the way it performs now. The advantage might be the ability to see what actual apeed the CPU is running at by using the widget.

Ok so I wiped everything and just flashed Fresh 2.3.3 without OC this time. Issue now is the phone has just turned off twice now on its own. Can anyone else confirm this issue? Much appreciated.

Running Fresh 2.3.3 and then flashed Darchkernelv4 768. This thing is running crisp and clean. Battery life is excellent. I have owned the Hero since it came out and have never had the battey last this long.

Are you running SetCPU or OC widget at all? Or just the kernel straight up?
Mine was terrible with the 2 apps never tried just the kernel alone though.

Well... I've been running the OC widget with Fresh 2.1.2 for 3 weeks and haven't had any problems with it. No custom kernal or anything, I know that it says not to use it but I've had no problems out of it and i can tell the difference whenever the phone starts to slow down, sometimes you just have to click the widget and click set again to get it flowing freely but that's ok with me.

nope.. stock battery.. today was a light usage day.. 13 hours and 70% charge left. I should mention I have 5-6 bar signal. better signal means less power used. if you are always showing 1-2 bars the battery life will suck.

Do run any battery software? like Juice Defender?

have you looked into spareparts to see what is eating up your battery? Also, did you use the OC kernel?

I wiped before looking at Spare Parts. But I did try running both the 768 and the 710 Darch Kernel and tried SetCPU and OC Widget. I did not however try just the kernel alone.

I'm running stock Fresh 2.3.3 now and I honestly thought the battery would be better so far...
