i can confirm that much bloatware was removed from my phone prior to the update. update installed without issue.

I don't know but I"m not that excited. I know performance improvements and flash. but I hate this motoblur crap. I realize 2.2 will have it but at least give people an option to go to stock android.
I cannot get launcherpro to place nice on my phone with custom contact ringtones and so I'm suffering with this until I can figure out how to get them to work.

does the system version suppose to change when 2.2 comes out?
I would think the system version should change when the firmware updates to 2.2. If you remember it changed when we got the update to 2.1-update 1.
Also, if you look at the picture above, everything is left justified..... except the 2.2 under "Firmware version". It appears indented slightly to me. "Photoshopped"..... IMO!
Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of Froyo 2.2!

I'm not doubting you which is why I want to put back the two I deleted. I thought did do the update after I rooted though and didn't have any problems but maybe my memory isn't correct on the update vs. when I rooted.

This would be great if 2.2 came out on the 8th, BUT coming from a 9530 user and the way Verizon rolls out their updates I honestly don't believe anything will happen until the D2 comes out.
Anyone that has/had a Storm 1 knew that a validated version of 5.xx didn't get pushed via OTA until the very launch day of the Storm 2.
Stranger things have happened, leaks ect. but I wouldn't get your hopes up unless the D2 is a complete sham or you start seeing "2.2" in the line of specs on any new model of phone. Verizon already used "DX gets the new 2.2 late summer" to lure people into buying it, patience, a virtue many here don't have (myself included)...

I didn't get that option with the last update, just picked up the phone to see that it was updated. Oh that quite upset me.

We really do not know if it was rushed or not.Maybe Verizon got caught napping.Maybe they were to worried about Droid 2 being the first coming stock with Froyo to notice Sprint was about to get the jump on them.
Here we go again.Had the Hero on Sprint 2.1 keep getting pushed back.Now I have the Droid X.I guess Verizon will keep delaying 2.2 now.Maybe Verizon and Motorola should have put more thought into having 2.2 ready for the X instead of releasing another phone.

I know Im in the wrong thread but does anyone know of an APP that allows a reply all feature for text messages? In other words when I get a group text I want to be able to reply to all vs every single one individually. Tried Handcent but no luck. Im running a motorola droid from verizon. Any one?

The only creepy thing is that so many people believe what they read on the internet and take it as gospel. Well, here's another one for ya. Verizon is supposedly implementing tiered data plans by the end of this month. Same blog reported it. Seen any leaks or announcements about it? Hmmm. Creeepy..sigh.
