Root Froyo Development

I just figured I'm wearing my phone out cause it seems like all of them are acting like that now. Can you wear out the hardware from repeatedly flashing things and messing with stuff?

Doubt it because if that was the case my phone wouldn't be worth jack right now. I swap different ROMs and mess with different things constantly for the past few months and my phone still runs great.

Does anyone else have their data disconnect for no apparent reason? I have had it happen while I am downloading something, when the screen turns off, and when I am using wireless tether. I get repeated results when I use wireless tethering and the screen turns off, but sometimes it takes a minute.
Here is an annotated logcat:
--turned airplane mode off to restart 3G D/St - Disconnection LG Ally Froyo Alpha Logcat

oTechnologyChanged, extra: (none), roaming: true, failover: false, isAvailable: false
Why does the phone think it is roaming?

Make sure you have the wakelock option checked under wifi-tether to avoid it going to sleep while using it.

I had to bail on Froyo due to poor performance as well. When I install Aosp21 or 23, initially it runs very well. After I reinstall my apps from the Market, within a short time, Froyo becomes so sluggish to respond it becomes unusable. I go back to Punisher and again reload my apps from the Market, and everything runs great, good signals, smooth and reliable. Same with Raptor v0.2 Beta 45.

I asked you guys for help on this. Where is the logcat? I can't debug this without seeing whats going on to cause it. Logcat when its acting laggy please. Posts like these without a logcat are not useful at all for resolving issues. Also list of apps installed too would help. Also do you have a sd-ext mmcblk0p2 sdcard (for raptor etc apps2sd)

Disable wakelock was checked, so I unchecked it and it still disconnected after a while, even though the screen did not turn off.

Logcat:
E/dun_service( 1190): process rmnet event E/dun_s - Aosp28 tether disconnecting

the weird part is that it states:
D/GpsLocationProvider( 1361): updateNetworkState available info: NetworkInfo: type: mobile[CDMA - EvDo rev. A], state: CONNECTED/CONNECTED, reason: (unspecified), extra: (none), roaming: true, failover: false, isAvailable: true

I think this relates to the problem others have been reporting... if you turn data roaming off, 3g disappears.
Logcat:
--turned data roaming on D/NetworkSettings( 148 - Aosp28 data roaming

Also, My Tracks crashes in aosp28 (what I'm using for all of the above)
Logcat:
I/ActivityManager( 1361): Starting activity: Inten - Aosp28 my tracks crash

I am positive my phone is not roaming, yes I have updated my roaming capabilities. This is an issue with the rom.

Thanks for looking into my issues, I'm glad people are taking the time to read these.

At this point I have no idea on the roaming being reversed. I have the correct extended roaming indicator and dont know where the issue lies in source code

Quick Question does the froyo rom help out free up ram, on the vortex running froyo it has over 200 mb available and wanted to see if this does the same with the ally before I flash it... Thanks guys.

Sorry, Drellisdee. I don't know how to do a logcat, and I didn't even think about that. I do have a lot of apps installed, but they are the same ones I install under Raptor or Punisher. I can certainly provide you with a list. As far as the lag goes, as I said, if i don't install anything, it's great. I have noticed that the Facebook app seems to drag it down. I'm off the next couple of days, so I will try it again and see if I can provide you with better info. I'll also read back through this thread and see if there are instructions to do logcat, whatever that is.

You need adb from android sdk on your computer. The command is adb logcat to run it. I think savoxis had a nice tutorial on how to setup adb on his site.

Drell....I've seen/heard of a, "ASOP28" ....is this near release yet? If you don't want to share publically about it and if you could...plz PM me...maybe I cld send anuthr donation your way too...I love this new ROM!

Also, have you started anything on the, "Gingerbread" project?

Distributing someone else's work without their consent will not be tolerated at Android Forums! Please be aware that if this happens again, I will be issuing one way tickets to Banlandia to any and all offenders.

If Getitnowmarketing had intended for his AOSP28 Froyo build to be accessible by the general public, I assure you that he would have posted it himself.

With regard to the sluggish issue some are experiencing. I can fix that on my phone by clearing cache (I use Cache Cleaner NG from the market). Every time the Ally gets bogged down with 'something' I clear cache with this app and it immediately becomes responsive again.

Sorry I have no logcat, I am out of the country and don't have my laptop. FYI, my phone is also in Airplane mode and strictly using Wifi. Happens with apps on SD or none at all (SD is class 6 with single partition).

When I was at home, I also had the roaming issue where it is always roaming ('disabling data when roaming' will kill all data). Again, no logcat as I installed this ROM just before leaving the country.

Hope this helps a little. I'm out of the country until the New Year. I wouldn't have installed this Alpha/Beta since my phone is critical to me, but I needed access to my office (Lotus Notes requiring 2.2) and that works great!

Running getitnowmarketing asop23

I can confirm that this usually works. Whenever I have problems with froyo lagging (or any lagging), a wipe of the cache and dalvik cache usually fixes it.

Actually, Trident's post was not referring to you, but someone else. The other person (in response to your request for asop28) posted a link to it that may not have been from getitnowmarketing.

The post was deleted.

OH, Trident....I was informed that the "ASOP28" update "high class hush-hush" info was "leaked" from the, "ASOP28" script that was shown "typed-out" within the post #506.

Sorry to get your high authoritative "ban ticket- handing out" ...juices a flowing...;-)

Well, if that is the case....I apologize to Trident....wish he would have addressed to whom that statement was to...in my defense, the way it is laid out, it looks like its "blindly directed" yet directed to me none the less....lol

Sorry Trident...sorry to Drell and anyone else that looks here for info..my last couple posts ~crapped~ up this thread.

In closing...I guess there IS an ASOP 28...and I'd rather wait for Drell to release it so I KNOW what HE has done within this file. ;)

I have also noticed the slowness after dowloading my apps, it seems to b that after I use advanced task killer for froyo, the slowness is greatly reduced, and the battery life is great. If noone has tried yet. Plesae let me know if that helps

Where is the love for froyo development, I love the roms, and how they work, I need a new build to mess with, the froyo build isn't looking too promising, maybe its in hopes for gingerbread??? :)

Wow! Gingerbread's been out for 2 weeks now. Why haven't you posted your build? Go ahead and give it a shot. It took me weeks even to get a froyo build booting and I have asked for others to help but haven't had many offers. Considering how far froyo has come I'd say its very promising factoring in we have very few people working on it and none are entire teams of software engineers like major OEM vendors like HTC, Motorola, Samsung, and LGE have.

You need to stop acting so poorly to this developer, hes working his ass off for us, and all you can do is ask for more? You probably just got the phone and have no idea what the process is! Learn the process, do it, and help before you even think to criticize.

Sorry man, didn't mean to upset you, I love the froyo builds, I'm currently running aosp21, I had just figured in an earlier post u said u were putting most of your focus on gingerbread, I wasn't sure if u were still working on froyo, u r awesome man, my full apologies
