Root Froyo Development

I went in and manually turned on the GPS VIA the power widget and it does not work on my phone. I had updated my phone to ZWC radio before I installed this ROM. Maybe this has something to do with it not working.

I'm very impressed with this ROM. Thank You Dres for all of the work on this. Looking forward to the next release.

I restored my phone back to factory, installed OTA updates so I recieved ZWB and then restored this ROM.

If I use the power widget to turn on GPS it does not work BUT if I turn it on by using settings it works.:)

getitnowmarketing - I PMed you the results of what I got from the ADB Shell commands you posted. Hope I did it right.

Would it be at all useful to the development of our Froyo to have anything from the LG Optimus? a friend of mine recently purchased one and has said it was okay to use it for pulling anything from.

For those of you who like the stock keyboards like myself I found a Gingerbread Keyboard that works. Which also solved the autocorrect/word library issue.

There is also a fix if when you install the zip the keyboard is small which happened to me:

1. Download the free lcd density app from the market for root users.
2. Set the density to 300 apply/restart
3. Set the density to 260 apply/restart
4. Set the density to 240 apply/restart

Found this on one of the Droid X forums.

Any other issues that may arise I probably can't help.

:):):)

Awesome find on the Gingerbread keyboard, and the LCD Density fix works. I love that everything-Gingerbread has a dark theme to it. Now I just wish my actual messaging window where the texts appear could be inverse black/white instead of the standard. Is there anything that changes that?

This could be created very easily with Handcent SMS.

Does anyone else have their data disconnect for no apparent reason? I have had it happen while I am downloading something, when the screen turns off, and when I am using wireless tether. I get repeated results when I use wireless tethering and the screen turns off, but sometimes it takes a minute.
Here is an annotated logcat:
--turned airplane mode off to restart 3G D/St - Disconnection LG Ally Froyo Alpha Logcat

oTechnologyChanged, extra: (none), roaming: true, failover: false, isAvailable: false
Why does the phone think it is roaming?

You're not using JuiceDefender or anything like that are you?

I have flashed AOSP21 and really like it. Scored a Quadrant score of 911 and a Linpack of 8.01 just on 2.2.1 stock. I OC'd and got 1117 on Quadrant and 9.01 on Linpack. WOW! Everything is just snappy. Things opened nearly instant. I have to say, very impressive. I have only a few concerns. As of right now, I do not have the Android Market. I just flashed over gapps and its back. However, everytime I try and download something, it's unsuccessful. I realized I also have the older market. Could that be it? Thanks for all your hard work. It's very impressive.

When that happens to me (I switch between different builds way too many times to be healthy), usually wiping cache and davik cache and rebooting fixes the unsuccessful downloads.

Hope this helps!

Market works now. My phone was really responsive. Now, it's lagging a little. Mainly when I open apps. I take that back. I put it on performance mode and it's as fast as an iPad. Damn!

Hello,

Being that all of the Velocity 0.3 users came to this thread. Can Someone try darktremors script? It allows ext partition app2sd in froyo. Link to Flashable Zip. Here are the commands. See if it works. Nandroid always.

I finally had to bail on the Froyo ROM and go back to Velocity. In somewhat of an emergency situation yesterday, I was trying to call my GF and every time I initiated a call, my signal would completely drop off as soon as I pressed send, and I just got dead air. No ringing or anything. And then when I started to think about it I realized it was probably the first time I had even tried placing a call since flashing that ROM. So I dunno what the deal was. Tried calling her, tried calling myself, tried calling the voicemail number, everything just resulted in dead silence. Texts have been working fine all along, so I must have some sort of signal. Switched back to Velocity and it is fine now. And it actually feels faster again, Froyo was really starting to bog down for me. Even OCd to 768 it was really starting to slow down on certain actions. And my WEP secured WiFi network works again.

I have always had that signal thing on any rom. I would place or revice a call and lose all signal bars and 3g but i was able to hear/speak to the person clearly. Since i always had it happen on any rom and on my old ally and now my replacement ally i always thought it was normal. lol

I had to bail on Froyo due to poor performance as well. When I install Aosp21 or 23, initially it runs very well. After I reinstall my apps from the Market, within a short time, Froyo becomes so sluggish to respond it becomes unusable. I go back to Punisher and again reload my apps from the Market, and everything runs great, good signals, smooth and reliable. Same with Raptor v0.2 Beta 45.
