Root Froyo Development

I too found bujild 21 much much laggier than build 17. I could type a sentence and it take 5 minutes to show the entire message I had just typed. I have that problem on all roms but its usually just a 5 letter lag. Not 100 letter.
Also I acidentally hit the camera butoon. And it didn't fc...it actually laubched and showed a colory blur. Dunno if that means any thing...I can not recreate.
Also I found the overall responsive ness of the touch screen was off. And the phone still died very very fast. I find it worse than stock v8 bloated with apps...also I find my available space is around 40mb just after boot....goes to 70mb if I close everything...

I'm sure u all know but....keep in mind...it IS a BETA version not near complete. This DEF has the potential to be a great ROM.
DREL....Im looking forward to the next release!

first off i would just like to say that i use my phone pretty heavily throughout the day as im in the military and i switched to aosp21 just today...last time i checked these forums it was a stuck issue ...as soon as i flashed i noticed the sleek look of the skin so much congrats on that, i noticed a definate speed increase from the git go from velocity 0.3 i didnt really start experiencing this lag that everyone speaks of till i move most of my downloaded apps to sd. i overclocked immediately and only found KP when i pushed past 729mhz, 9.028 mflops at that speed. sms, mms, and voice/data all works good ..i did have a suggestion dunno if itll work but i noticed that the LG optimus was released with froyo and the source is available from lg...as far as the camera goes just may need an updated app+driver as i noticed the app is the same one from 2.1upd1 ...good job guys keep up the good work

For me personally build 21 has been amazing so far, 17 had random lag come up here and there, no issues at all with 21.

It must depend on the phone and/or the user's location. Mine also was much laggier and clunky using 21 vs 17. And 17 was laggier than using Raptor v0.2 Beta 45.

That being said, it's still an amazing work in progress, which was why I donated. Drellisdee never disappoints, and I'm sure that we're only going to see the AOSP get better and better.

Also - Drellisdee, can your new_oc_test_2.zip be used with the Froyo ROM or no? (Or is there a newer version of it than that?) Thanks!

I don't have my phone on me to check, but I'm pretty sure that kernel is already being used in AOSP.

I am a noob to the android devices. I have flashed aosp21 and love it. here is the my report.
1. gps works great and very fast
2. no signal issues
3. MMS works but I have to go to the message and manually download any pictures.
4. Lagging only seems to be at times. Have tried killing different apps but have not found one that helps
5. quadrant is 1012 and mflops of 8.899 overclocked to 748 mhz. Have had it at 768 but only seems to stay stable for about 20 minutes.

I use this phone for everyday use and is by far my favorite ROM. It gets laggy at times but is well worth it. Let me know if there is something I can try or test for you. Thanks very much. Will be donating before Christmas.

I flashed build21 yesterday and thought it was impressive. I would like to add that when I long pressed the home button, I felt what I would call "haptic feedback."

People having data roaming /low signal issues what build number did you notice a change with?

Also a few things I dont plan on changing:

Alt B to .com

Haptic feedback as LG did it in 2.1

I have vibrate on keypress on keyboard as an option but its not work the effort to try to code in the haptic.

Also, you cant really compare this to 2.1 as its very different. Comparisons to say raptor which is just a repacked and tweaked official LG build vs a built from source build of a different OS version.

Also, anyone using a mmcblk02 sdcard for apps2sd like in raptor try using a different sdcard that only has 1 vfat partiton (no sd-ext or swap) as the vold in froyo was changed from eclair and many users across different devices have reported issues with sd-ext apps2sd.

I noticed the signal drop in the first build, an average of 1-2 bars lower. I still have a signal everywhere so I'm not bitching lol

First thing I want to say Thank You for all of the work you have been doing with this ROM. I'm more then willing to test build 21 again and any other builds. I know this is beta stage and will have issues that still need to be worked out. The only one I have tried is 21 and I'm looking forward to new releases.

I did not move any apps to SDCard and I have never used this in any ROM.

Did some compiler tweaking and this was done @ 825mhz

I reflashed Ver 21 and I had no problems with speed until I setup the Facebook app to sync contacts. When it is syncing the phone is very slow.

I really like this ROM and I will help out with anything that I can. I'm going to run this for today and see what happens.

I cannot over clock my phone past 729, I'm thinking of trying to add some heatsink paste to the CPU, is there any good directions on how to do this?

for the msm7k series heat really isn't the issue its contstruction perfection/imperfections on the die that determines what you can overclock to. Keep in mind the msm7x27 is only rated to run 600mhz max and thats what is tested and QA'ed to run anything more is a bonus.

No log available, not sure what even happened. Sometime last night or this morning something occurred in the phone. Did not know until this morning when my alarm tone was different. opened the screen and it was blank, except for the notification bar.

Attempted to power off, but the phone reset, when it came back on all of my downloaded apps, save Ti backup and my wallpaper, were gone. Did a full power off and on, no fix.

I then attempted a nand restore. that got stuck in a bootloop, and clearing the caches did not resolve it.

I reflashed the 2.2 and the gapps, and dowloaded Ti backup to restore my phone every package gave a parsing error and would not load.

I'm sorry that i don't have logs, all i can provide is what happened. I don't know if it is an issue with the ROM or something else, but I thought it better to report than not.

We're you trying to restore backups made on 2.1? I had the same problem, then I backed up all of my 2.2 apps and they restored without a problem.

I guess that is a possibility, but I thought I had made a backup after i had the 2.2 all set-up. I'm just really not quite sure.

Alright open up TI backup and click the "Problems?" button. This will download a reliable version of BusyBox onto your phone. The "parsing error" probably resulted from not having BusyBox. If that doesn't work just PM me. I'd be glad to help

My guess is that you're trying to restore a 2.1 backup, I had the same exact 'parsing error' message.

Make a backup of a single 2.2 installed app, delete it and then try to restore.

Just installed AOSP21 last night and cant believe how good its working. Cant find any flaws in it except for the camera not functioning. Once thats good then in my eyes it would be perfect. I didnt do any overclocking and my Quadrant scores werent bad at all. Want to thank everyone for their hard work on this and for beating LG to the release.
