Froyo EC05 (DI18 users - Install instructions post 39)!

I keep getting "E:error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 2) installation aborted". Any suggestions?
*Edit: Figured the problem not on DI18 lol
 
Nadda. People. Day 4 and no OTA push here.......Guess I will try the download everyone is using.

April 1st Sprint changes how often you can get a new phone. There will be Gold= 1 per year. Silver= 1 every 2 years.
I will remain a Silver customer as I don't use all that much talk or data. So if I don't exchange within the next 7 days I will be stuck..... Just wish the Nexus S for Sprint had been released befor then.
Then no worrie about Froyo cuz it runs Gingerbread Also the NFC will be awesome once the U.S. adapts it. No more credit cards, etc.....woohooo

The EVO's display quality is too poor to really enjoy HD.
 
I'm running DI18 since day one, but no OTA yet, and it's day 4...looks like there's no ryme or reason to their OTA sequence or schedule....

Last time I had a Hero they put off the 2.1 and they swamped their website once the download was available. It still went faster than this OTA BS....
 
They have no clue what sequence or schedule means. Well until it comes time for them to bill you.... Then it's smooth as silk.....LMAO
 
Hi, I'm in florida.I got the sprint ID text today also & still no update either. Also i m unable to update my prl &profile says is a prl update but my phone says unable,try later, & says firmware is up to date.I'm stock DI18
 
With them pushing the download OTA is causing everyone the same problem when trying tp update Firmware, Profile, PRL or Android.... First 3 give Unknow Error and the last says up to date....

I have EB13 installed from sprint store. Is it even worth updating to EC05, especially if they are adding sprint id to it?
 
Well I read somewhere to RESET the phone. I did this.
Settings> Privacy> Factory Data Reset.
After the reset I noticed that it was downloading something in the background.....Could it be? Why yes it was. FROYO EC05 2.2.1

Well I read somewhere to RESET the phone. I did this.
Settings> Privacy> Factory Data Reset.
After the reset I noticed that it was downloading something in the background.....Could it be? Why yes it was. FROYO EC05 2.2.1

okay. I like froyo but it gained and lost some things as far as looks. I will get that setup like it was with third party apps.

This may be a silly question, but before doing a factory reset should I take my sd card out or no? To not loose my pictures & all or will it not erase them?sorry,my 1st smartphone,apparntly its smartr than me,lol..

A factory reset shouldn't erase your SD card.
 
Oh, ok.thanks for answering that.so I guess I should do that then.ill let y'all knw if that makes a diffrence for me as well.

were you running DI18 or EB13 that made it work with the factory reset?
 
Just one quick question. If I factory reset, I will be able to redownload paid apps from the Market, correct? All my contacts, etc are in the cloud and I don't have any apps with local data that I care about, so I'm considering just doing it, but I don't want to have to pay for my paid apps again.
 
Yes charles c , you will get all your paid apps back. and what i did was i use appbrain to sync my apps to the web so i knew what they all were then after i odined back to di18 and did the update.zip to ec05 i downloaded appbrain again then pushed them all back to my phone from the computer its faster that way then writing them down so i could remember what apps i had.

Thanks, I took the plunge. I had been kinda meaning to do it after getting EB13 anyway, but this gives me a good excuse to just go for it.

I am counting down the days until EVO 3D is released!!! In the meantime I tried a factory reset on my phone, in hopes of recieving the OTA...I will let you all know if it worked..I am guessing no, because Samsung sucks em big balls!


PS It just booted back up and now it prompted me to upgrade my.......Wait for it......Wait......My Voicemail....doh what a let down.
