It looks like Chevy will be posting some medium-voltage kernels tonight! That makes me very happy, since as I've stated before, my Droid hates LV kernels and there haven't been any SV/MV kernels available. :)

Girl, I figure I know the answer, but have you tried the P3 kernels? my phone isn't liking Chevy's Froyo LV kernels, it reboots under load above 1ghz. the P3, I can run up 1.2 stable under full load.

I literally tried EVERY Froyo kernel and the only one that would boot up is Chevy's 1.1 LV. Everyone's phone is different, so P3's may be perfect for you.

Yeah... Chevy's product normally runs great on my phone, but froyo has changed that for some reason. I could run his 1.25 LV kernel on ese81, but not even close now....

I've been running Chevy's ULV 1.25 kernel for about a week now. I am utterly amazed at the stability and performance. I can't wait to get cpu temp reporting working again to see how these temps are actually doing, but the phone "feels" cool and my battery lasts for what seems like forever in comparison to any other .32 kernel. (Been running BB0.1 and now on Birdmans' FLY0.6)

ok nooob question....how are you guys loading these? update.zip without and wipe?
(data or cache) and what if it goes bad how do u revert?

no need to wipe with a kernel. To go back just install the kernel you had before

Same...unable to run Chevy 1.0LV on BB v.2 Froyo...was able on BB v.1 Froyo

+1 on this.. I'm using the same kernel on my Droid and it is, hands down, the best kernel I've used to date since 2.0.1. It's fast, stable, runs ridiculously cool and my battery life has been nothing less than stellar (typically a day and a half without charging on casual/medium load). I used kernels from P3, Bekit and jfgld prior to this, but I have been flat out impressed by the 1.2Ghz ULV kernel by ChevyNo1.

im just running the "stock" kernal that came with fabs froyo...so id just have to reflash that rom?

I don't understand your question -- reflash that ROM to do what?

If you're asking how to install the kernels from the links in the OP, they're all update zip files, and you install them the same way you would a ROM, but you DON'T wipe.

right i got that down...but say my droid decides to be a lil pansy and screws up from the kernal...how do i get back to what im at now? just reflash the rom from fab that comes with the 800 kernal?

Yes, that's one way to go. The other way is to do a backup before you install any kernels, then just restore your backup if they don't work.

and rom manager will let me do that right? i have CW on my phone now and when i did my learning to root stuff it was all with spr so im not familiar with cw...

Go to ROM Manager...select "Download ROM."

Go to the ChevyNo1 section, as good a place to start w/trying kernels.

Select Kernels, and choose one from the list. Maybe best to start with a medium voltage kernel, 1Ghz or less, so you don't push your phone too hard at first.

Select the kernel, when prompted choose the option to back up your current ROM.

That will boot you into recovery, backup your ROM, and install the kernel and reboot your phone.

IF you have to go back due to instability or boot loops, you can restore your backup from ROM Manager, or if you can't boot, pull your battery, boot into recovery by holding power buttton and X on physical keyboard and restoring your nandroid backup directly from recovery.

Is it possible for a P3 Kernel at 1.1GHz to work better and cooler than a P3 kernel at 1GHz?

It's just a example, because it seems like ALL 1GHz kernels I run seem to stay real warm. Even after idle it'll be around 98.6F. I use to get low readings like 75F-85F after idle. Could it be the ROM and stuff that factors in with what kernels work on my phone?

EDIT: I put Chevy's 1.1GHz ULV on mines....the temps are definitely cooler. Chevy's 1GHz didn't do well for me either, both ULV and LV. Now with the 1.1GHz ULV, my phone just rebooted when I tried to wake it up? Could it be because of the ULV voltage, or the MHz i have set for it?

Otherwise this kernel is real nice....

You're probably correct, it is either your minimum speed or the phone doesn't like the ULV kernel. I would keep the minimum at 250. It should really stay on if its at 250, it shouldn't need to go higher. Also, if you recently flashed a rom, give it at least 24 hours before you start changing kernels and heavy tweaking, it can take about a day for the rom to settle in and reboots may cease after that.

If a day or 2 passes and your still getting reboots, try the LV kernel.

so then once i have a kernal on my phone i can control it with setcpu? i already have that on my phone.

If the kernel has been flashed, go to SetCPU and set your profiles. When it asks about your device or something along those lines (its the first question) make sure to hit 'Autodetect' as opposed to selecting Droid. Then set your profiles. Make sure to move your max speed down then back up, sometimes you gotta do that just to make sure the kernel speed and SetCPU are synced.

Also, set your profiles for 'on demand' and hit 'set on boot'.

been using chevy 1.1 for days with no issue just put on 1.25 to give it ago. so far wifi, wifi tether seem to work
