I am just used to my Droid being a whore and taking whatever I give to it, so long as it's not too big >1250. :D

I almost had a meltdown in the car today when the phone went into a reboot loop while navigating somewhere. 30 minutes of flashing 10 different kernels I keep on my SD - then finally a restore and a shaky startup for 10 minutes. Then I got to go home.

My phone will never know how close it came to becoming part of the pavement today. Just don't say anthing. :)

It really amazes me how mod for mod it comes down to hardware and each phone is a bit different.

LMAO!

So what kernel are you running now? Did you try the Sapphire kernels? Although I've never been able to run P3 kernels before, I'm giving the P3D1.1Ghz LV Sapphire kernel a test run right now and I have to say I'm likin' it! The only weird thing is that I'm used to being able to see the CPU clock speed in System Panel and this kernel isn't showing up there.

Well all of them at 1200 I have tried:
Chevy LV/ULV
P3
JDLFK
...all of them Froyos and no dice.
Jake's 1200 works, but it did give me that big issue today. My battery is not great with Jake's though.

My other phone (currently going back to VZW via FedEx) could run ALL of the above with phenomenal life on ChevyULV 1.2.
I haven't tried the Sapphire kernel and I have been hoping on Bekit for a while now.
I will have to try sapphire and DL some 1.1 and 1.0 kernels to keep on the SD (and a stocker) in case I have teh same issue in the car again.
Thanks

I searched and didn't find a separate thread dedicated to all the kernels available for Froyo, so I'm posting what Ive found in doing my research.

There are the jdflg kernels that redflea told us about here:
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/94673-new-froyo-kernels-released-jdlfg.html
Also, jdflg kernels made specifically for CyanogenMod: jdlfg kernels v.32.2.0 for Froyo 2.2 New v.32.2.1 kernels rom specific to cm - CyanogenMod Forum - Page 19

For ChevyNo1 (ULV/LV/MV):
Froyo Kernels - 7-1-2010 - ULV/LV/MV - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

For P3Droid (use those specifically for Froyo):
P3Droid Kernels
These P3Droid kernels for Sapphire have been reported as working on other ROMs, as well:
P3Droid Kernels

Jake's Froyo Kernels:

A Bekit (test) kernel for Froyo has now been posted. From his Twitter (2:50 PM Jun 25th):

"For those who have asked, here is a test .32 kernel for Froyo Droid builds - http://bit.ly/aoRUqR I will work on more features next week!"
New kernel choices up to 1.4Ghz by TopQuark that inssane told us about here:
http://androidforums.com/all-things...-4ghz-other-speeds-topquark-based-off-p3.html

If you know of any others, post them in this thread and I'll add them to the OP.
Are you having any random reboots or browser shutting down and returning to home screen. Mostly on flash heavy websites?

Updated the OP with new Jake kernels with working WiFi. Thanks for the tip, endmao!

Still nothing new from Bekit after he posted the 800mhz test kernel.

Updated the OP with the P3Droid kernels made for Liquid Frozen Yogurt, which I can confirm works on other ROMs (at least with BB v0.4). This is the first 1.2Ghz kernel I've been able to run with stability on Froyo.

ALSO added a link to P3Droid kernels that show CPU temp!

how is your battery life with this ? i wanna try it out but i am tempted to leave well enough alone as i have such good luck with chevy's ulv kernals. this only being sv kinda worries me.

Haven't really had a chance to test battery life -- I've only been running it for today and I'm usually on a charger anyway.

Excellent job on the new kernels with temp from p3! I'm running the 1.2 GHz LV kernel for froyo. I went on a trip this weekend and was running NAV and slacker radio simultaneously with USB charging (not the full current from the car charger, USB connection through my head unit on my stereo) all of that running through the bluetooth audio link to my stereo and the phone still stayed under 140 F temps during the day on the way up (sunny and 95 degrees outside). At night on the way back the phone stayed under 120F. Great battery life so far as well.

I added a poll to the op. I think it will help people decide on a kernel

Thanks OMJ, I think this is a great idea -- but for me the answer to this question is complicated. Up until 2 days ago, I would have said, hands down, that Chevy's kernels work best for me. However, after the addition of the CPU Temps, Chevy's kernels send me into boot loops, so I'm now using P3Droid's (and getting ready to try jdflg's newest offering). So, although at this moment the one that works best for me is P3Droid's new kernel with CPU temp reporting, it seems a little unfair to shun Chevy's offerings, which have worked amazingly well for me both before and after switching to Froyo.

UPDATE: I have now tried the new jdflg v32.2.3 Anykernel for any 2.2 Froyo rom (1100, 1150 and 1225 mhz). I understood that these kernels now would report CPU temp. Each of these CPU speeds loaded for me just fine, but they all reported CPU temp at a constant -1C, so CPU reporting did not work for me on BB v0.4. The 1225mhz turned out to be unstable on my Droid, but both the 1150 and 1100 were stable. However, the Quandrant scores on the 1150mzh jdflg were not as good as either the jdflg 1100mhz or the P3Droid 1100mhz and I experienced more lag in transitions with the jdflg 1150 than with the jdflg or P3Droid 1100. I'm going to continue testing the jdflg 1100mhz, but I probably will return to P3Droid for the CPU temp reporting.

I know its tough and a changing thing. I think from time to time I will clear the pole and start it over. I just wanted to help out newer users because its can be an overwhelming and tough choice with so many options and such a long thread

It seems that the boot looping problems that Chevy's kernels with CPU Temp were having are now resolved. I downloaded them again yesterday evening and am running his 1.1Ghz LV kernel once again, and am very happy with its performance.

I voted jdflg b/c those are the most stable kernels on my phone, 1200 MHz and all is well, no hiccups, reboots, overheating, etc....

However, I'd like to vote for Chevy as well, as thus far, on FroYo, his are the only ones supporting CPU temp monitoring again....(Although I figure they will be incorporated into other kernels soon enough,....)

Hey John, I'm using Chevy's kernel again, as noted above, but I thought I should note that P3Droid's newest kernels also are supporting CPU Temp and in fact, did so slightly ahead of Chevy's. Some folks are reporting that jdflg's newest builds also are supporting CPU temp, but each one of those I tried showed a steady -1C, so they didn't work properly for me. I can confirm that P3Droid's CPU temp monitoring works perfectly, though.

Thanks for the heads up - right now playing with the brand new update I got on my phone - about to install it to see what is different about it from FRG22....

Just wanted to toss my experience with P3Droids kernels. Running 125-1250LV. Runs smooth as silk, cool as a cucumber and better than average on power. That's from stock, no wipe. Not a single problem so far (day 5).

I'm using the ChevyNo1's and so far at 1 and 1.2 it's been randomly freezing and then rebooting.

Check to see if your CPU temps are sky-rocketing. This kernel has direct CPU temp reading so you can use TempMonitor to look at the temps - if the CPU temp spikes past 140F (60C) the phone will lock up and shut off. That is why in SetCPU you'll need to make a profile with a 100 Priority that immediately starts downclocking the phone if the temp spikes past, say, 130F (54C) or even lower (I use 122F / 50 C)

Whenever I have tryed installing any of these kernels I keep getting the E://signatureverificationfail and the Install is aborted. Anyone know what I need to do to fix this? I am new to customizing my Droid so I do not know a whole lot about this.

Read through the thread a little more carefully, and the last page finally gave me my answers. He has pulled them and they will be back online soon.
