Froyo RUU update available

I reside in Bahrain, where mobile phones are not network locked, i.e. unbranded.

OTA update to Froyo isn't available, and so I figured I'd go about this manually.

For an unbranded device, I am getting Error 131 - customer ID error.

My current ROM, btw, is RUU_Bravo_HTC_ARA_1.30.415.3_T_Radio_32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_139993_signed (quite sure)

Please help me with this... I have been searching in vain. And I am rather desperate to remove some of the nosy pre-installed apps (pertaining to the "locale")!

Many thanks!

Ok so I pretty much followed all the instructions to a tee and it still did not work, I get Error 130 [Model ID Error] with the first update
I was using a 16gb gold card. (supposedly). I got error 130 on both RUUs i tried. (2.09.405.8 & 2.10.405.2)

After i switched to a different 2gb goldcard the 2.10 updated right away with no problem.

This is probably because your goldcard is not good. (error 130 and 131 share a ddescription in the readme).

Try making a new goldcard on a different microSD. Be careful to follow the instructions exactly if you didn't the first time.

So I bought a Desire from some1 in canada and did the OTA update that came out in the begining of Sept and my wifi presents with error. I made a goldcard and did the update.zip process and this still did not solve the issue. Will rooting my phone help me solve this issue? Also in my about phone it says my fone is the a8181 model which doesnt make sense because its working on ATT 3G network(the H is present) Is this because of a specific Rom that was installed on the phone?
I am also unsure if my phone is branded or unbranded. There is no telus branding on so im going to assume that its unbranded but im not 100%

i currently have froyo 2.2
baseband version 32.43.00.32u_5.09.00.20
kernel 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527
build # 2.10.405.2 cl226611 release-keys
software # 2.10.405.2
browser version webkit 3.1

thanks for the help

will this affect my phone being unlocked because i need it unlocked to be on ATTs network?
No, unlocking has nothing to do with flashing firmware so it's ok to go back and forth. The version in the thread is an unbranded 2.1 as well anyway, but it should get your WiFi working, then update properly to 2.2 to get Froyo.

Thanks.

Up until then, I had not trued the gold card technique. I thought it wasn't needed because my phone was unbranded.

Surprises of surprises, the gold card technique worked...

I only just noticed your response. Thanks, mate!

Agree. It should be in the main forum. I'd move it back if I could. I'll see if I can get it moved back.

Sorry I am a bit lost here...

I have an HTC desire which is unlocked, I have rooted it today and need to unroot it and I don't have a goldcard..

Can someone just tell me in simple steps what should I do to unroot it again ?

Easy, make a goldcard, update to the lastest generic version from HTC and you're done. The first post of this thread has all the details or links needed to get it done. Making a goldcard with the creation tool is easier than it sounds, and flashing is easy too. Since you've rooted, the rest shouldn't be hard to figure out.

Hi
I got my HTC Desire in Saudi Arabia. It has a 2.1 Firmware.
When I go to system software update it tells me:
" Your phone is up to date "
" There are no updates available for your phone" !!!

i think this is because of the 2.1 is applicable with the middle east.
my brother got his phone- the same - from France when he was traveling. he also lives in Saudi Arabia, when the 2.2v came out he downloaded it from his phone with no problem.
he has a good running 2.2v
I did everything by the book.
It asked me if I want update the ROM from 1.30.415.3 to 2.09.405.8
It was processing and told me it might take up to 10 mints.

Boot loader is running, after that updating signature ….
30seconds later .

ERROR 131 CUSTOMER ID ERROR
The ROM update utility cannot update android phone.
Please get the correct ROM update utility and try again.

how can I get the 2.2?

Shipped ROMs
Is that the latest version available?
Software verison 2.10.405.2 is the latest RUU or OTA update for generic unbranded Desires running Android Froyo v2.2 firmware. I'm guessing any further updates will be to Android Gingerbread v2.3 firmware unless a software patch is needed to fix an issue with the current version.
