Froyo

Mine is working... i got a notification saying something about adding an exchange connection... had to allow it

sorry, can't remember exactly what it said.

It added the exchange calendar but hasnt prompted me for anything else. Also the phone doesnt vibrate for phone calls anymore.

i need help installing flash onto my phone..so i downloaded the necessary files onto my computer..my phone is hooked to my computer..now what?

ahh, i think it was only the calendar prompt i got... haven't had any problem... if it continues for you, i guess i'd suggest removing and re-adding the account...

haven't gotten a phone call yet, but i'll try that out.

UPDATE: Mine didn't vibrate either.... hmm

UPDATE(2): Go into your sound settings, select vibrate, select only when not in silent mode, go back into vibrate, select only in silent mode. That sort of reset it and now it works for me.

6: I have now verified that the OTA update I got was the same as the ones posted elsewhere, and have provided a faster alternate link (via MedaiFire) to Trident

Thanks for the post. Can you confirm that your 2.2 version is the same as the one we downloaded from here?

Baseband version: C_01.43.01P
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-g103d848 android-build@apa26#1
Build number: FRG01B

well, I know you could go to Market and freely download "tAttachApkInstaller" and then you could email it to your gMail account, and then from there you can actually install it.

You fixed my no vibration problem. I tried re-adding my exchange account and doesn't like it. I see the phone hitting the Exchange server but its not liking it.

how long does it take to determine this? is it something that takes hours or days or fairly quick to decide that they in fact altered the bootloader so we cannot root if we do the stock 2.2

if this stock 2.2 is NOT rootable you find, I would pass on this, then root, then do a 2.2 ROM. but if you find it is still rootable and the bootloader is not locked down, I might just go this route since future rooting would still be possible.

I'll wait for the answer to this before I do anything.

Based on what I just read that someone else posted who flashed the update with spr I dont think it flashes the bootloader but I dont think we will know until someone tries the update then tries to root it

Or a dev examines it closely. I took a quick look at file names and saw mbm which is the bootloader

I know this is off topic but is there any way you can upload the swype apk?

No. It is a closed Beta. Don't ask, the mods here will get itchy trigger fingers.

Not yet - I am already running Bugless Beast (which is why I was worried at getting an update notification) so I ahve nto installed it yet. I am betting, though, that it is since the original file name (in my phone cache) is e48e48ff4252.signed-voles-FRG01B-from-ESE81.zip

OK, Froyo installed. Why is everybody do excited? I see no major changes.

Because it introduces a stable version of the Just In Time compiler, which adds a whole new dimension of speedieness to our phones, among other things.

If you check out the other thread, you'll see Trident's link for all the changes.

I made Pete aware of the file, he's got it now and is working on rooting it, and will keep us posted via Twitter.

thanks... do you have a link to a thread where this might be more on topic and discussed?

Won't that be a good time. I think I'll stick with the clean 2.2 build that Pete posted for now. I doubt there's any difference between that and the official OTA update. I don't particularly wish to lose root at this point. Too many useful programs require it. :)

Pete's got this version of the file already and is working on rooting it. Sit tight.

So very impressive. I wish I had the skillset to work on this stuff. I'm a software engineer but this stuff definitely is a different world than what I work on. :) The clean 2.2 build that was posted seems to work well for me. I've only had some minor weird issues that clearing the cache seems to have fixed for now. (Exchange email was telling me it couldn't contact the server....cleared the cache, rebooted, all is well again.) But root is something at this point I don't want to give up. It took me long enough to take the plunge and now I'm quite well addicted to it. :D

All right so the issue with icons from apps that were moved to SD have been resolved. Just re-add them to the homescreen from the launcher.

But I really don't like the 2.2 messaging app. Any way to get the options from the 2.1 messaging app, i.e., picture not showing up on every single text! and black background.

Its very possible I just never saw this before, as I've only been using Picassa for a couple weeks, but I now have my Picassa picture folders showing up in Gallery. Is that new to 2.2? Or was I just oblivious to it before?

Thanks for the flash download! Works great now! I love that I'm now finally able to select and copy text in gmail.

I have googled different variations of pete, bugless, beast, bb, etc and cannot find a twitter page that looks like it is actually ever updated by him. Could you possibly post the direct link to his twitter page so that we may be able to keep up on any progress he may or may not be making in rooting Froyo?

Thanks,
Kratos
