Galaxy Nexus Battery Life

I went to the Verizon store the weekend to replace my phone (defective screen), and asked about the extended battery. They had it in stock and it was still 50% off ($25 total). So if anyone's still interested in the extended battery, they have it, depending on where you are. I was in Winston-Salem, NC fwiw.

yeah same here in Virginia i just got mine this weekend
 
HA i aint... and i am lucky if i get 1 bar at about -110 dBm in my house and -120 is no signal but i still get better on 4g then wifi
 
I was getting only 5 to 6 hrs of life for a couple of weeks now. I read a few posts where people were experimenting with disabling background data. I tried it myself last night.I also at the same time, changed the network from cdma/lte to just cdma and left the wifi on all the time. I am now at 38% battery life 18.5 hrs later.

My exchange mail seems to still be getting emails right on the mark as well, but my calendar is having trouble updating (this may be unrelated). I have a funky exchange servie (lotus notes traveler), but I'm using Enhanced Email as the client. It has been the only client I have tried so far that understands how to accept meeting invites with my server. Even touchdown does not know how. my understanding is that EE has a known issue with ICS and Calendar updates, so this may be the cause of this issue.

I put CPU Spy on and it still shows that I hardly go into deep sleep even though I got 18.5hrs out of it so far. I now need to figure out what apps are going to malfunction with the background data disabled. I tell ya, I was ready to trade this in for a iphone (I was getting pretty depressed with the battery performance, or lack there of).

18hrs of life on a standard battery is just fine with me, but I still want to know what bad things are around the corner with background data turned off.

Tonight I will try just switching onto the cdma/lte and see the effects. Tomorrow I will kick background data back in.

I probably should try to see why I cant deep sleep before I do any of these additional experiments.
I also have Set CPU set for set to "ondemand" state.

This is typical for me. No Juice Defender, nothing special other than extended battery. Kicks the crap out of my wife's iPhone 4S. She hits the charger around 12 hours everyday.
 
I get a full day of use out of mine. I'm really pleased. I definitely show this phone off more than I did my Fascinate, and I play with it more often myself, but it still outlasts the fascinate's performance. It's very consistent and predictable for me, too. The usage and battery drain make sense, and I know how much I'm draining things. There are few surprises and weird battery holes for me.

My next test will be to see how long my Nexus battery can power a set of USB Christmas lights.

Edit: while playing music at the same time. That's the test I need to do ... too bad I didn't have time to do it before Christmas...
 
I apologize if this has already been answered, but I have been finding that my battery won't read 100% (its usually 98% even though the notification area says "fully charged".

I'm on the extended battery, and have personally seen very good performance from it, so I'm not going to nitpick my good luck too much here, but its still a little annoying.

Any ideas?
 
Once the battery hits Max over a long charge it stops charging to protect its self just unplug it and plug it back it and it will hot to 100%

It has been one of the biggest complaints about the 4s... My bet for the cause is the new notification system. There is a battery price for having notifications.

Actually it doesn't. It trickle charges for hours before it finally stops accepting a charge. Use battery monitor widget and you'll see what I'm talking about.

There was thread on this before. I guess it was battery 99% when full.
Mine does it too with standard battery. But I noticed that it actually reaches 100% just when it's charged full. then if it stays on charger, it seems to drop to 99% though it still says charged full. From that thread, it looks like Nexus does this probably due to ICS bug.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, I sort of remember a previous thread on this. I'm not that concerned since I've been pretty happy with the battery life. :)
 
I have had my phone since the second week ad the extended battery since the 3rd week.

Here are Screen shots from the last 7 days.

All with normal moderate to heavy use.

I don't see an issue.

I hope it get s better for those of you with issues, because mine definitely got better over time.

actually, i've seen a number of articles like this pop up on my news feed.

This Tip Could Cure Your iPhone 4S Battery

i am curious what the big difference is between their 1420mAh battery (on the 4) and the stock 1850mAh or 2100mAh for the gnex. i've always been amazed at iphoners that get 24+ hrs of normal use.
