Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Does it affect battery life?

Yes it will: especially if the "listening when screen is off" option is selected. The Gnex isn't optimized for it like the Moto X, but it's a great taste of things to come :D

EDIT: I'm experimenting now to see how bad the battery drain is, but so far so good...

Built a new watch face last night - its a spin on someone's watch face with a bit more granularity. The original watch face was called Holiday, so mine is called Holiday-ish.

Concept is that when you don't need to know exact time (when on holiday for example), it will display times ish, depending on current time. For instance, at 1:05 - it will show 1:00ish, but at 1:22 it will show 1:30ish. Once it gets up to 1:45 it will show 2:00ish. The original version showed 1:00ish until 2PM which I thought was too much time.

So did anyone see the comments from Vzw CFO?

VoLTE capable phones at the end of this year. VoLTE goes live 1st Half of 2014, with the first VoLTE-only phone at the end of next year.

That being said, if it is active, and VZW has to abide by Block C regs, any phone that is capable of VoLTE can be activated on their network, as long as it doesn't have a CDMA chip but does have their frequency. It COULD have a GSM radio though.

Here is to hoping we see an unlocked phone sooner rather than later. :D

Well folks, I tested the Open Mic+ "Listen when screen is off" function. It's a battery vampire! I lost 30+% in little over an hour, and it sat there most of the time... idle save for a quick phone call and a couple of messages / tests.

Dev told me that v3.0 will have a "listening with screen off when charging" setting, which will be grand. But for now, if I were you I'd leave that one turned off.

:)

It is indeed awesome. The 2013 Nexus 7is the first device that fits that those requirements, but I do await to see what the first phone will be.

Anyone else notice that after two more Nexus phones, Google is going to have a real problem naming the next one?

I think they know something that they're not telling us yet.

The second and third were the "S" and the "Galaxy Nexus" so I'm sure they'll figure something out. I'm thinking the name of whatever phone it's based off of will be thrown in the name somewhere. i.e. Nexus G2 or Nexus X
I like the sound of the Nexus X, actually.

So looking forward to a nice evening with rumbling thunder. I love storms at night. So had a scare with my old N7 tonight, my son let the battery run way down, it took 30 minutes on the charger to finally get the screen to light up :p

Possible new tax going to be added to phone bills. The tax would pay for wifi in more classrooms.
Ah, the beauty of being prepaid, yet another fee/tax I get to avoid being forced on me. It really is sweet that the only tax/fee I have to pay is sales tax.
