It's one of those days already and it's only 6:30 AM. You know, one of those "I have to travel to see sick family, it's Sunday, all the shops are closed and my tire just picked up a nail" days. Yeah.

I will state categorically and without hesitation that I despise these kinds of days.

:(

Yeah, just a delay and some nonsense. The only tire place open on Sunday is Walmart Tire & Lube, and they don't patch tires - I have to buy a NEW tire!

So I'll get ANOTHER tire on our brand-spankin' new car (not even 1000 miles on it yet) and then get the Darling Bride on the road. Then tomorrow I'll take nail tire to the dealership and let them patch it... I guess I'll have a spare spare tire

Thanks Kaat: yeah, we'll survive it... I've been through worse, I assure you!

Chief, you ever plug one yourself. It's a piece of cake if it's a small nail hole and you should be able to buy it at any autoparts store. There is a rasp / reamer to scuff the hole. Then you put a wad of glue on the surface, and push in a tar covered pipe cleaner looking thing. Cut off the excess and your done.

Thanks Pup, not sure I trust my first tire plug job with her taking a 1000 mile road trip. Were she staying local, that would be another matter... but it's vital that she get there and back in one piece :D

I will definitely look into it, the dealership will repair the tire free... tomorrow. She's gotta get on the road today. So the Chief does what he has to do to get her there safely.

:)

EDIT: Unbelievable!

Look at this vintage 1977 Ben Kenobi with the double telescoping lightsaber!!!

I have the vintage 1977 Ben Kenobi... but sadly he has the one-piece lightsaber. The only character I have with the telescoping double saber is Luke in the Early Bird set.

I can DREAM, though!

BTW Darling Bride is away. She finally vamoosed around 9 this morning :)

EDIT 2: Avoiding a double post so I just keep editing... :p

I downloaded Android Wear, just sort of making a placemark for when the Moto 360 EVER comes out... IF it ever comes out... and it needs to hurry up!

:)

Judging by how quiet it's been in here, hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. :)
Got my new wireless charger since the old one seemed to crap out on me. It's another cheap, likely Chinese brand judging by the "fun" language used in the manual it came with. ;)
Has anyone dealt with Acer's customer service? Our Aspire S7 we got only a couple months ago; the power jack has basically crapped out on us. The plug barely makes contact and is pretty loose so it won't charge at all (it was like this since day 1 more or less). I would assume something like this should be covered under warranty? Hoping it won't be a huge turn around for it.

I had an acer warranty claim a few years ago. It wasn't great, but not to terrible. As I recall, everything gets sent to their service center in Texas.

Got a new lappy in April as well, for the same reasons; no longer charging with a broken power port. Acer as well. It was past warranty though :(

Wow, Brazil, WOW!
5-0 and it's only the 29th minute. Pretty sure they've given up and I'm pretty sure the fans are going to burn down at least the stadium if not the entire city! Germany is not going to stop either....

My past 2 nights at work have been spent in a roughly 2' x 7' room of a locomotive putting a floor in. I welded it in last night so it was definitely in the high 90 degree range, at least. I come in today and I'm told they didn't like how I did it. I never put this floor in before. So tonight I'm running a torch in the same room, cutting the floor back out. I'm swimming in sweat

Choo choo train??? !!!! Yaaaaay! Choo chooo!!!!!

Well Halon, I think you've found a great weight loss plan! WOW, sounds like a sucky job.

When I was new in the Navy, my first ship was in the shipyard getting overhauled. Being junior at the time, my task was to go into a non-ventilated plenum chamber and chip all the paint and primer off the walls. With a needle gun. In a full protective suit and respirator. I think you could have fried an egg on my forehead.

So I feel for ya, buddy :o

Have you ever been thanked or liked for a post that's about what.. two years old? and said WTH?? Did I say that?

I kinda had a job in Newport, VA at the ship yard before I got this job building locomitives. Before my second interview, which was really just getting fitted for a respirator and physical, my back acted up really bad. I got meds for it so I had to tell them. So they took an xray of my back and found nothing wrong...but!...I guess they took it as a risk and I never heard back for 3 months being told they couldn't find a department for me to work in.

I say bullshit. There are like 15,000 people working there with a revolving door.

But whatever. This job pays very well. And the railroad pension is one of the best. Probably because the gov't has never had their hands on it!

What a bizarre problem.

I un-wired our doorbells from the transformer last year because a short kept making the chime ring. Well, I finally decided to troubleshoot it today. I wired everything back up... now the chimes won't go off! I'm watching the plunger rattle a little bit, like it WANTS to strike the chime, but there just isn't enough "oomph" to drive it. So I'm concluding that the transformer went bad. Now I have to figure out the wiring behind this madness and get a new doorbell.

Time to call a handyman. This old technician is way too busy campaigning (and too tired from everything else) to put a new doorbell in.

Has anyone here done it? If so and it's "super easy", please share your knowledge!

:)
