LOL. To be honest, that is the approved method of dealing with an unsafe landing gear indication. His announcement could have been a tiny bit more soothing though.This made me think of CaptainRon:
It can be difficult explaining aircraft malfunctions to passengers. We don't want to lie, but you also don't want people to panic unnecessarily (It's okay to panic when it IS necessary!) On my flight to Tokyo a couple days ago I had a minor problem with the left engine during startup and had to return to the gate to have the mechanics repair it. It was truly a "minor" issue and we were on our way within 30 minutes, but when you say "engine problem" to passengers some of them start to hyperventilate and want to get off the plane.
