Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I think a giant user of my battery is the phandroid app :(. Gonna run a few weeks without it and see what happens. My terrible battery days seem to correalate with the apps use.

I'll tell you it most certainly is. I went without it on my phone the other day and also took off words with friends and hanging with friends and made it 12 hours on moderate use. I get between 5 and 6 if their all on the phone.

 It's just 3 apps :p you can delete them! Some people really like them. I don't. ARHD is just so stable and smooth a nice improvement over stock.

I'm going to use NFC for wifi switching as soon as my tags get here :)

How is that VZ wifi app treating you working well?

Well right now it doesn't work. Or didn't last I tried. It was the one that switches wifi on and off depending on where you were.

I've had the app since day one and it rarely if ever shows up in my battery usage stats. If it does it's usually dead last or next to last.

If you're on stock VZ ICS do what hans mentioned above upon a full charge and see if it works. It has for me.

I'll add that on the latest 4.0.3 roms/kernel combos I'm using, wake times have lessened and battery life has improved nicely.

Yeah I had it on my Inc it worked great. So I guess it just need updating to be compatible with ICS

Unless the app is using it in the foreground (which i dont believe Phandroid does) Android wont report it in the stats page. I think its using it in the background possibly as part of th OS.

Franco (on his kernel page) says when you first boot up the phone, open the camera first and then close it. Supposedly the sensor is staying open, which drains the battery. The Nexus S had the same problem.

I've done this, and I think it's having an effect, although I haven't really gotten around to examining the numbers yet.
This is a bummer. Is this something that can be fixed by an update? It'd really suck to have to open and close the camera every time the phone turns on. Also, when you say "close," what do you mean exactly? Is simply going into the Camera app and then hitting the Home button sufficient, or do you need to hit the multi-task button and swipe away the Camera app?

I liked the 1st Sherlock Holmes. Going to watch the 2nd one shortly I love movie theater popcorn!
Nice! I loved the first movie, will be seeing the second one soon hopefully. Let us know what you think! :)

I didn't see the first one! Lol.

But I love movie theater popcorn too. I should probably go before Monday so I can have it again without guilt. After Monday I'm back on the 'put the junk food down and get your ass in the gym again' plan.

Surprise surprise :p It was good, downey is a great actor imo and the action is great.

Oh my me & the wife have to get on that program as well. Going to eat up the rest of this year though! :D

You've got to try Green Mountain French Toast, it came in the same box with the egg nog one that I ordered. Amazing.

Sounds delicious! Someone brought the eggnog in cause they didn't like it. Looks like I'll have to find the variety pack before its gone

I'm with you on the year end binge Baby Blues. I am ending this year on a high note then starting the new year the way I began this one...minus the cancer.;) Gonna do next year right! Got my gnex and my health and I am rarin' to go.

We can all support one another in our gym quests. And I'm so happy to hear you are cancer free!!! That's awesome.

Regarding diet stuff, I STRONGLY recommend P90X.

I was a fat teenager and a fatter young adult. That program is hard as frak the first time you try it, but all told I lost about 80 pounds.

Half an hour a day, and huge results within 90 days.

I'm starting the new P90X 2 in the spring.

I thought the 2nd Sherlock Holmes was great but it has a different dynamic than the first. Less plot and more action IMO, still enough twists and turns to be interesting and captivating though.

I'll look at that.
For me the elliptical combined with Zumba and using Weight Watchers actually worked to take off 40 earlier this year. I stopped all of it around July and put on about 13 of it again
I actually can't wait to get back on a schedule of regular exercise. I feel better when I do. And I won't have to do the 'shimmy, shimmy, shake' into my jeans anymore. :D

I like a woman with a little shimmy in her hips, personally... ;) Haha.

I lost 70 Lbs from January through June this year. Then I quit dieting when I got my "diagnosis" and have just maintained since then. This coming year I plan to continue from where I left off this past June until I reach my ultimate goal. And don't think I am going to divulge that! Suffice to say I made major inroads to it this year.

Are you in a 4g area? We've had it for a while in Fort Myers but it's never been solid. Funny thing is that I used to actually get some 4g coverage at home before the official launch in October.

What really sucks is that I have a VZW tower within site of my office, but I'm told that particular tower doesn't have LTE. I find that strange as it's right next to FGCU (university) and a minor league hockey arena.

I live in a non-industrial rural town of about 15,000 souls and I get pretty solid 4G there. (2 bars consistent)

I'm currently visiting family and sitting within a mile of Tennessee Tech and don't have a lick of 4G.

Who knows. Verizon seems to use dice to develop rollout plans.

Speaking of which I need to drag my sorry butt out of bed and hit the gym before I start playing with my GNex this morning. I don't want to turn into a wide body captain.

But in the mean time I'll enjoy the visual of your shimmy, shimmy shake.
