That's what I was under the impression as well. I went to best buy with the intention of buying the full copy but when I couldn't find it on the shelves, I asked a floor rep if they had any full version copies. He said yes and went into the back and ended up bringing out a box that was different than the ones on the floor, and didn't have the words upgrade written anywhere on it unlike the floor models. I re-asked the rep if this was the full version and he confirmed that it was. When it rang up as 70 dollars, I asked a third time if this was the full version to which he confirmed. When I got home, I opened it up to find two discs and a serial code. I thought I was good. I clean installed it this morning without a problem. When asked for the serial during installation, it took it without a problem. But when the install finished it asked me to register my serial. When I tried to do so, it failed saying it was for upgrade only.

So I went back to best buy and gave them hell for telling me incorrect information that led to me buying something that I did not want. They wouldn't let me flat out return it for a refund because it was open (which I understand due to piracy). After fighting for 40 minutes I came to the agreement that they would let me trade in my copy for an OEM full version copy of which is not even found on their website directly. If you try and search for the full version on their website, it doesn't even come up. You actually need the SKU or direct link in order to find it. So now I have that ordered and should be here by the end of the week so I can enter my serial.

The point I'm making is that the box they gave me was different from the ones you could pull off the shelf, but yet was still an upgrade. Shady business if you ask me.
 
Well I just spent the last 24 hours trying to fix a broken computer. Somehow Windows got corrupted. Thankfully I found a trick to get into my hard drive from the boot disk and backed up all our family pictures and music before having to format it to reinstall windows. Finally got it running now. Kind of proud of myself, I have never been a computer geek, just know enough to be dangerous. :)

Sorry to hear about your accident Chief, glad everyone is ok!
 
Today is a sad day in history. She has served us in every major conflict since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. 50 years later, USS Enterprise - our first nuclear powered carrier - has come pierside and her reactors shut down for the last time. Never again to go to sea.

You would think that they would make a museum out of her... but no, they're going to make razor blades. Yep, Big E's scheduled to be scrapped. :(

I agree, it's a sad day. But I have a feeling the Big E will be back someday ;)
 
Seriously, almost 12 hours and no posts? Oh well, good morning everyone! Busy week ahead of me, just like the one after that and the one after that :p.

Anyone else think we should do away with Daylight Savings time? Now that we are off it, I felt so much more rested this morning, getting to sleep in an hour later according to my internal clock.

Good Morning all. I always find it tough to get use to standard time coming from daylight savings. It's so weird having it be completely dark by 4:30. Makes it dangerous drive home every night from work looking out for deer. On a side note, I don't personally watch, but everyone has been blowing up my Facebook/Twitter feeds with Walking Dead posts. I guess something major happened last night? I have to catch up personally on last night's Dexter that I recorded.
 
Morning folks! Tried to rest some on my day off yesterday and did get a little so I feel refreshed this morning. Rolling back the clock had something to do with that I'm sure.
 
Chromebook is coming tomorrow! Problem is it's going to my work and I won't be there (and lord knows I'm not going in to pick it up. ;)).
Dumb question, I know I'll get the free 100Gb on Drive for two years. I assume it'll simply expand the amount I'm already using or will I have to have a separate account?
 
anyone else have trouble with google wallet? when I try to remove the prepaid card all it says is 'removing card' and when I try to add a card it just says 'adding card' but neither action happens.
 
I am not having issues, I used it this morning.
Check your version tho, may be old.

Morning all, I just noticed that in Windows 8 if you click on your internet connection from the task bar it tells you how much data you have used, could be useful to some! ;)

Seriously, the "new features" are listed in Recovery to give you something to read as you're flashing it - that's the only changelog I know of right now. Nice stuff and all... but I'm a crack-flasher so I can't leave well enough alone. Gotta be on the bleeding edge! :D

Just make a nandroid BEFORE you dirty flash it - if you don't like it, restore back. No sweat.
 
Flashing one of the newer 4.2 keyboards. Still probably won't sway me from SwiftKey (and can't wait for the new version!). But I'll give it a shot.
 
Just realized that today is Guy Fawkes day, and the requires an annual viewing of V for Vendetta. One of my favorite movies of all time.
