Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

So I think I might be in trouble at work, and I waited to post this today so you guys wouldn't think it was an April Fool's day joke.

Okay, so over the weekend I worked on "cooking the books" on some office balance sheets that one of our legal secretaries (I'll call her Mandy) works on as part of her job. I cooked it so that it looked like she was stealing money from the petty cash. I made it look like this on hard copy and in the computer (I made a back up of the real ledger, of course).

So yesterday I call her in and tell her I need to talk to her. I show her the balance sheet and tell her that compared to what's actually in the petty cash account, there appears to be $800 missing and that since she is the only one with access to it, other than the partners, all evidence points to her being the thief. Then I tell her that she is fired and that if she leaves peacefully I will not notify the police.

Well anyway she gets all red and started shaking and saying that someone was setting her up, and she starts crying like immediately!!

I was very quick to say it was an April Fool's joke but she got really pissed and went to HR.

What the hell, doesn't she ever watch The Office?

Anyway, my boss was in on it, so I don't think I will be in TOO much trouble, but seriously, I didn't even get time to enjoy it and I think I made an enemy.

:o

Oh, and good morning, Nexicans!

I dislike the song, but love the beat.

Same here. Love the beat and love the guy's voice that does the "I'm gonna pop some tags..." part.

Edit: Oh wow Han! You pulled a Michael Scott! Very funny, but yeah, you probably made an enemy there. You shouldn't be in too much trouble...might get a letter in your file or something from HR.

Yeah, I have to go to HR at 2pm. And my boss tells me this morning, "Well, I wasn't really in it, you just said you wanted to pull a mild prank on Mandy and I said go for it. I didn't know you were going to fake-fire her."

Way to cover her butt, but I guess technically she is right. Oh well. We'll see what happens.

good morning everyone :D

we are one week away from the big day my family...
how do people cope with this? and how can you sleep? (thinking out loud) but if you know the answer please let me know :/
ill be glad when the surgery is over and it shows it has not spread so we can move along but i know it will not be that easy ... (sorry rant over :))

Back to un-reality, everyone :)

Fast-walked 1-1/2 miles in the time I normally take to walk a mile. I BOOKED IT today... followed immediately by 45 minutes of water exercises (and don't laugh - water is great resistance and you WILL feel it). Had a salad & orange juice at home and now I'm "home" at AF!

@BBK, it'll be fine. Really!

@Han: you don't mess around with pranks, do you? I mean, I've done some off-the-wall stuff in my day... but "firing" folks? WOW...

:)

hehe Maybe...

but sounds like you had a good old time this morning??
i know the water thing helps its is may now so that means its pre-summer beach season here when all the locals swim and surf w/o the "Canadians" invading our beach hahaha ... why do they choose Virginia of all places to come lol

... sounds like you had a good old time this morning?

Yes I did, thank you. I'm not the fittest (or most agile) person anymore, so my gimpy pace usually allows me to walk (limp) about a 24-minute mile. But this sectagenarian PASSED me on the indoor track! I was determined not to let this kind lady show me up, so I paced her and (finally!) passed her on lap 8. Went ahead and did 10 more laps at that stride, knocking out the mile and a half in 24 minutes.

Then hit the therapy pool for 45 minutes of low-impact exercise. Still, I feel it. Trust me, that water puts up some serious resistance.

Hope to be back there, doing it again Thursday :)

16 minute mile is a pretty quick pace chief, well done!

Well got technical approval for my Master's thesis today. Just have to get management approval. MY degree is a joint collaboration between my company and the accredited school. Also means I need both school and company approval, and my committee will include at least one from each. Small price to pay for a free Masters degree :p

Congrats, Anti and best of luck going forward. :)

Anyone else wear Birkenstocks? I just put on my ancient sandals (the regular, generic ones) for the first time in forever and forgot just how well they molded to my feet. Not one to really wear them out in public any longer but nice for round the house wares. :D

Oh no, no Dr. For me, my wife has made that clear, at least not till our children are self sufficient. This last two years was rough for her.

Good job Anti!! :)

Yeah, you'll be called Dr:

Hey Nexicans,

So tonight was Cooper's first night without a bottle. He is closing in on 2.5 years old and we feel so bad for him. We know it's the right thing to do for his teeth and for potty training but it was so hard! We are always there for him but we couldn't give in to his cries for a bottle as this is a step for him in his development. It just felt awful. Thought I'd share cos it's weighing on me.
