Galaxy S3 Watering Hole

I see some of the VZW S3s are trickling in. Rumor has it VZW locked their bootloaders.:(
Hopefully developers can make quick work of getting around it. :)

Oh they are! We have root and recovery already. They are working on custom kernels now, and hopefully getting close. Thankfully, while locked, this phone is NOT a Motorola. There is hope. :)

People who want their phone to actually be THEIRS, make SURE you tweet verizon your disdain here:

I did!

FYI, I added my SIII to my Samsung account. After I had entered my MEID for verification it showed a build date of June 26, 2012 under the MEID. So it went from a stack of parts to my hands in 10 days. Kinda like buying a warm loaf of bread.

I couldn't leave my new phone stock. I rooted it. My Captivate got downgraded from CM9 to Gingerbread because it's now my backup phone.

Is that your first retired device? If so, that's cool. I had three retired, but have given rwo away. My OG Droid is still plugging away on light duty as my alarm clock. I have given away another OG Droid and just this weekend a D2.

I do have 2 Nexus 7's coming to keep the balance though.:D

I'm still hemming and hawing on getting an int'l unlocked pebble-blue gs3. I really don't need one and my One V really does do everything I need. But... but... but...

[Hide]It's so pretty and awesome and all!

Lmfao!

Very fitting.

I guess one of the questions is, do you love since? Being that if you dont you can just replace your launcher.

If you can afford to get an S3, I'd vote for 'go for it'

The real question is, does an S3 have enough pro's to make it worth it. I came from an old galaxy portal, so it was a huge jump in phone capability for me and very much worth it.

As long as you have a phone (any brand) that does what you need it too, that's all that matters. Nuff said.

I wont have my phone for hours... but that's no reason not to drink! *grabs a hef and sits back* Soon I will have my phone, but until then, drink up! :D

The more I use my One V (3 months on at this point), the more I like it. It is a fantastic device for the price. And I really like Sense 4 better than vanilla ICS. (That says a lot!)

Can I afford and S3? Well, yes. Do I need it? There is no way that I need an S3, but I'm a gadget freak. Would I use it? Absolutely.

So the Wildfire S is out for sale and if it goes before the weekend, my wife inherits the One V and I pick up an S3. It helps that I can pick an S3 up here in Cambodia for about $50 less than in the States. Whatever I make on the WFS would be a bonus. We'll see what happens :D

I'm having one for you!

Btw .... Love my phone.

Well, I was not anticipating this, but so far I am NOT LOVING my SGS III. I am wondering if any of you fellow Verizonites would be willing to help me test this out:

When connected to the aux in (very common on cars and stereos nowadays, you know, so you can listen to music off your phones and iPods and MP3 players, etc.) I now have the SAME incredibly aggravating problem I could never resolve with my Fascinate. As usual, I have my bluetooth connected to take the call. When I answer the call, I hear NOTHING over my bluetooth unless I disconnect the audio cable out of the headphone jack!!! This is a huge safety hazard, as it takes your hands and eyes off the road, requiring you to disconnect a cable every time you get a call!!

I called Verizon and complained about this with my Fascinate to no avail. I never had this issue with my Droid X, HTC Eris, or my Galaxy Nexus, another dual core Snapdragon based Verizon LTE phone made by Samsung.

Not to mention the SGS III is laggier and less responsive than my Nexus, although not as bad once you disable S Voice (S is for stupid, by the way ... I can't get it to work worth a darn!! Maybe I'm stupid, but I've certainly given it a chance.)

This is horrible because the screen is incredible, and the battery life far outpaces every other smartphone I've ever had by a ridiculous margin, so PLEASE, fellow Verizon SGSIII friends, help me out if you can!! I don't want to have to return this phone, but reasons to do so are stacking up.

If there's no fix for the audio cable thing, that is a definite deal breaker, and enough to make the phone "defective" in my opinion. That is such a blatant safety hazard. I do NOT want a "Fascinate 2". :(

Similar issues have been covered, one is here http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...n-audio-jack-plugged.html?highlight=bluetooth

I would highly reccomend you try to update all apps & firmware, either FOTA or via Kies to fix your lagging. You can also adjust animations or turn them off completely in the settings > dev menu. You can also go into Settings > Applications > All tab, and disable any apps you know you dont need (not ALL apps can be disabled)

Nice, fair play dude, If you get one, all the best with it, its an awesome handset, should keep you amused for 5 minutes lol. :D

I'm having one for you!

Btw .... Love my phone.

45 minutes time i'll be having some more! :D then coming home and having some more, so im sure I can squeeze one in for you in the there somewhere LOL :D

YAY got my SIII!! and quite drunk!! Party on, and S beam me more alcohol!

Wonder what the next phone will be...
Good (wo)man! Just try to remember that the S3 does not have a drunk mode, s-voice sux at slurrred language, and its not capable of translating incohereant drunken slurs to taxi drivers :D;) other than that, rock on! oh and try to find a sober moment so you can truely enjoy your spanking new S3. :D

Thinking of picking up the S3 and taking it for a spin and letting my daughter have (use) my Nexus while I do. I have to say...the locked boot loader makes it a bit less attractive, but I'm not a diehard rooter, so I may be able to live with it. Anybody who has used both phones have any opinions on making the switch?
