Breakfast for dinner (ahem.... brinner :)), sounds like a good idea. I can actually make a decent frittata since my broiler works, just not the whole oven.
Should be some great spring ingredients available. If I can find some ramps or at least spring garlic, I'm all over it. :D

Translation needed here ... kthx

Im sure you can whip up something good with a load of veg/eggs etc

Googles broiler ...

Fritatta is basically an egg, veg, meat mixture that is started in a pan and then broiled in the oven. Comes out like a big, thick pancake. Traditionally made with sliced potatoes, but I'm thinking some sort of potato and bacon dish on the side and some salad.

Ah, gotchya.

So, how is broiling different to grilling? I mean, my over has a built in grill, but I guess you guys use grill to describe BBQ?

Broiling is essentially upside down grilling of sorts. You highly heat/cook the top of whatever you have in the oven by placing is close or far away from the flame.

Yes... you can't grill indoors.

Yes, this is true. :)
And I don't even live in Texas :p

Can with my oven :p

OK, so this isnt my oven, but for explanation, it works better.

The top where you can see a pan, is the grill, basically a pipe with holes in that flames come out of to cook anything on the pan.

So what do you guys refer to this as?

Ok...Ok....Ok....

I DO live in Texas.
One can not bbq indoors... by definition

"Heat transfer when using a grill pan or griddle is by direct conduction. In the United States and Canada, when the heat source for grilling comes from above, grilling is termed broiling"

BBQ that uses propane or another heat source is also sometimes called "grilling" as well.

Not to be confused with what happens in the K'Lin home every summer with organic heat sources as in charcoal or wood and no ignition catalyst which is considered here in the south BBQ'ing. Which in NO WAY can be done indoors!

And French fries are French fries, not "chips". :p

The Belgians invented French fries. Our Dutch fries never visited France :) and are called friet or patat. Chips are thin deepfried porato slices.
And we eat out patat/friet with mayonaise, ketchup or hot sateh sauce. :D

I'll even accept "frittes". ;)
And yes, mayo is the BEST condiment for fries. I like mixing it with a little ketchup too for a franken dressing. :)

Okay, okay, I'll do Ranch. :)
But! It has to be Wishbone or Hidden Valley. I was stupid enough to buy the Whole Foods brand and it's garbage.:rolleyes:
I'm a fan of flavored mayos too. Their still in vogue in DC. Wasabi, curry, garlic, etc.

And the fries come with a fried meat croquette and mustard, and a fried cheese soufle :p
