Nah it's nothing :D

Shesh, for something that don't get much use and sits in airplane mode, the nexus 7 HSPA sure sucks down a lot of battery. Screen eating a lot of it, 38% (how, since it is sleeping most of the time anyway? And another 16% for tablet idle. What!? Doing nothing evidently eats battery, and lots of it!

Earlier today, when I left the house, I had about 50% battery left. Got to work, turn on airplane mode, and a couple hours later on lunch, it was down to 39%. Turned airplane back off, to actually use the thing, loaded up chrome, checked a couple things, falcon pro, sent a tweet (well, two) and checked the weather. Then seen my battery icon went to red and at 15%. In less then 5 minutes.

Seriously!?

I suspect there is a bug in the 4.2.2 software. There has to be. Or the battery is junk. Or HSPA uses way more juice then I could have ever thought.

So far, I need to charge the thing about once every two days, for very light use. If sticking the thing in airplane mode don't really work, then what is the use!?

Total disappointment so far.

Guess I will try a rom. I can't believe the battery sucks. Its worse then my phones and I use them more! :(

EDIT:
I am going to be paying real close attention to iOS 7...

Got a question for you rom flashers out there:
When I was flashing roms a while back, I often downloaded the gapps packages (which was almost always another file), but the other night I was wondering if, with the use of titanium backup, is this even required now? I mean if I flash a rom, and TBU my apps, the gapps should be reinstalled, correct? I mean, this is of course if I make TBU a flashable zip to install when I flash the rom.

Or would it just be safer to download the devs included gapps package?

I think its bad practice to restore system apps from titanium mate. Not sure why though
Gapps flashes really quickly anyway. Its just annoying having to log into google services when you boot

P.s, i just keep the Gapps file on my SD to avoid having to download it each time

AJ, the only thing I'll occasionally restore (and usually don't run into issues) is for app data. Bringing back texts, passwords for various apps, etc.
I've also noticed some ROMs have their own compilation of Gapps. ParanoidAndroid has theirs while AOKP uses a generic Gapps package. Keep an eye out for what the dev says in terms of flashing and upgrading. I've also noticed, many AOSP based ROMs aren't including Gapps which can be downloaded from the Play Store (like Calender and Gmail).
Restoring Gapps from TiBu isn't something I'd mess with though.
