Root Get Your Spoons Out, ICS Is Almost Frozen!

Just a quickie, So the main advantages of ICS over the current is what? Just a sexier user interface or is there a new kernel....I mean what are we really looking at for those of us who aren't particularly ROM engineering experts.
 
Another question. I'm looking at flashing this soon. Can anyone tell me if there is less space/less memory available with ICS compared to GB?
 
im so excited to try some BACKandJERRY'S ICS !!!!!! maybe a possible new name??? i look forward to gloating to my friends about how there are such great people that devote hard work and time to develop awesome stuff for complete strangers. you have saved me so much money. instead of buying a new phone, i just try a new roms! thank you

I would say less right now. I've installed Titanium Backup Pro, SD Card Booster and ES File Explorer. 71 meg used, 108 free. Only Ti hasn't been moved to the SD Card.
 
Been playing with the build. Yeah, less memory for right now...BUT they are still trimming down the beast that is Quattrimus(Official Name of ROM)
 
Right now I would doubt there are really any advantages compared to your IHO CM7 ROMs. It is nice to play with but I'm restoring my nandroid. For now the only changes are the interface since the kernel isn't optimized for our V.
 
Very true, once we get a good kernel that's optimized for the OV...

They still have a good bit of work to do BUT, the core operating systems (calls, data, etc) are working.

Back to GB I go...

A kernel is what tells the rom how to run and controls small but major things like clock speed, wifi, compcache, processor slots etc. Think of the kernel as an interface layer between the hardware and software on your phone.
 
so its like the BIOS of a computer?

so ics is clocked at like 800 mHz automaticilly or it doesnt know its on a ARM v6
?

I'm in the process of downloading the rom, but my internet stinks... college blocks mediafire... so I'm downloading via 3G on my phone... its taking way too long! lol can someone post a video of the ROM working besides the already posted one by jerryscript? :)
 
I looked and looked, no luck finding it. :(

Edit: found it!... I just wanna say I sent this before the page reloaded... lol ;)
 
So was there supposed to be sound? I didn't hear anything... lol and also, was that a running apps widget or something that you put on the home screen toward the end of the video?? That was kool :)

Edit: Lol I should refresh the page more often...
