Root GingerShedBread/GSB

Hey WD, how you been? :) Good to see an Eris alum keep in touch.

How's things going in Incredible Land?

Cheers, mate!

All is good in incredible land. It's an amazing device and the community is really strong with a number of outstanding ROMs. How's the X treating ya? Wondering what new devices you've been keeping an eye on (if any)? I was thinking about the TB, but for the price it's not that much of an improvement to warrant axing my Inc. It's going to take a lot for me to part ways with it

The power off animation stopped working for me even though it's still checked. Any ideas? Rebooting didn't help and neither did unchecking and re-checking the box.

I just rebooted my phone and both the power on animation and the power off animation (old timey TV thingy :D) are working again!

Keeping my eye on the Bionic...hoping it'll have an unlocked bootloader (like I think they announced for the Xoom yesterday)... That would placate a lot of X users that were really hoping it would be cracked.

My X is awesome and I'm in no real hurry or need to upgrade...and the "window" doesn't open until August at the earliest anyway ;).

In the meantime, I'm still enjoying the fruits of exploring Gingerbread, etc. on the Eris...pretty sweet that its on our little phone that could :D.

Cheers!

Honestly, I have no reason to leave the Eris at this point now that I've found the support on here and XDA I need to make it a better phone (that's code for a big thanks to all of you on here).

I love how compact it is. I like to keep my phone in my pocket and not feel like I have an iPAD in there (oh, the dreaded Apple reference!). All of the new phones are just too big and bulky for me. Honestly, you know what the best phone I ever owned was? A 'chocolate bar' Nokia....small, compact, great reception.

I love what the Eris can do but most importantly love its size and convenience. I wish the cell phone makers would take my (and presumably other's) input on this and keep at least up with the times by introducing a nice compact phone like this more often.

My favorite was.............(Drumroll please, then you can laugh).....
The Star-Tac. Hey..........it WAS top-o-the-line at one point. But if you remember the screen? It's like Space Invaders compared to Mortal Kombat now LOL>

Always wanted a Star-Tac. Never had one though.

My favorite was first the Motorola Razor, then later a K-RIZR (slider version of the Razor.)
That K-RIZR was the last phone I've purchased that I was 100% satisfied with. That's sad, because I've bought many since then.

I kept my Razor-V3c for many years after I retired it, as a backup. If a new phone crapped out or I just didn't care for it as much as I thought I would, I'd switch back to the Razor until I was eligible for another upgrade. :)

Ahh, good times. :)

I am definitely loving my Eris, but I'll have no problem upgrading it to an Incredible (or whatever newer equivalent is available when I'm eligible again). Everyday I use this phone I am more convinced I would not be satisfied with an iPhone.

+1

"Is that an iPad in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" lol

Sorry, I know that was lame. But I couldn't help it. :)

Completely agree, no hurry here, either. I have 2 available upgrades on my account, but I haven't seen anything that makes me want to use them. Although, Verizon likes to keep telling me I can get the iPhone whenever I call or go online. I still can't believe the Eris has GB. It's pretty impressive for a phone still running 2.1 stock. if I didn't sell mine I would be on WiFi right now loading that baby up!

Ironically, the iPhone 4 is probably closer to the size of the Eris than any Android phone you can get on Verizon right now. Thinner than the Eris, too.

Pressing the trackball will wake it up at any time now.

The track ball doesn't wake my phone when it's taking a nap or when I'm on a call for more than a few minutes and the screen goes black. I still have to press vol up and the send buttons to wake it on a call. I have the trackball wake option checked. Settings>CyanogenMod settings>Input>Trackball wake. Am I missing something?

This happened to me as well. I don't have trackball wake on, but I could not wake the screen in a call without hold VolUp press send.

It works for me. I had to enable it but, since it was enabled, it's been working.

Try rebooting your phone. That's how I got the old timey TV thingy back.

probably mostly mental. the governor makes a bigger difference. but hey, if its stable then why not it can't hurt.

I'm just wondering if the extra kick is worth the extra drain (assuming there is a trade-off).

I've been using Smartass and it's been working well. It seemed slightly smoother than Ondemand to me but I haven't extensively compared the two. I wonder which is better.

Had several issues start last night. Multiple FCs and laggy as hell. The occasional freeze too. Dialed the processor back to 608 and everything cleared up. @Scary Alien- I officially joined the X ranks at 10:15 this morning. It is FAST.

I have jit >on, smartass>on, oc'd to 748mhz, no games (not into them), the phones been lagging alot today. Turning jit off to see if that helps.

Ironically, mine seems to run more smoothly at 710 MHz. I wonder if the extra heat has a negative affect...
