go check your local at&t store

This phone is not going to sell out! Outside of some tech/Android enthuasists geeking out about the phone, very few have even heard about the phone let alone are they in a position to buy (or are they even interesyted.).

I'm going to stop by the store on the way to work - I think its a corperate store, and see if I can snag one. Otherwise, I have little doubt that there will be one waiting for me on Sunday.

For those who have gotten the extra $50 off .... it has been four years since I bought my last on-contract phone (I usually get my early-adopter brother's castoffs) and when I do the upgrade equipment thing online I get this message:

We can offer you an additional discount up to $50.00 off regular 2-year commitment pricing and a waived upgrade fee on most devices.

Am I right in assuming that I'm eligible for the $50 discount? If they don't offer it to me at the store, am I likely to get it if I ask?
 
Corp stores in Huntsville, AL still not selling. BestBuy initially didn't have them, then they got them as I was sitting there! I told them that's what I wanted & they called the Mgr. The Mgr said to sell it! Then they went to ring it & their system stopped them! Arg! They put my name & # on the box & told me to come back Sunday. How frustrating! I'm going to go back tomorrow & try again! :D
 
Well tried 2 AT&T stores on Route 110 in melville. The AT&T corp store by walt withman gave me the bullshit run around on how if they had them they would sell them but they don't have any yet but it will be available on Sunday. I had called this store 2 days in a row and they had already confirmed they had them in stock. lying scumbag.

The other was an authorized retailer and she told me she just got the demo unit and wasnt' expecting the shipment till early next week. I believed her.

Tried the Deer Park corp store, but same BS, not till the 18th. Told them about the email that is going around and they didn't even check. Just said no. Scumbags again.

I would look at calling the corp store in Glendale (near Keystone and 62nd) tomorrow. I'm gonna hit it on the way back from work again tonight and see if they've been allowed to start selling it when I get off work. I'll post the results after I'm done there.

That additional discount will only work at an AT&T Corporate store or online at ATT.com. They should give it to you automagically, but if not ask for it.

Haha, I just found a store closer to me that is selling as well. The one I found earlier is in Carrollton west of ATL.. address # starts with 1610.

I will give the one closer to you and me when I get there this evening.

Correction: I will be at that store within the hour.
 
If the $500 off contract thing is true, I can take my i3GS off craigslist.... I've called several Indianapolis stores and no one knows the pricing yet because it isnt in the computers...not sure how people are going to ATT stores and being rung up for a Captivate (not doubting it happened, not sure how it happened).

No luck around Cincinnati. Stores all have them but won't sell them. Authorized retailers will sell them tomorow. I got one store to hold one for me.

I'm in the STL area also and checked at an authorized dealer in St. Charles and they are telling me $599 off contract.
 
I'm really sick of the guess the price game. Haha. I've been told ( all from att people) prices are : 299, 349, 449, 499, 599. Wish someone would make a choice. I'm not going past 349 though- the guys on the ATT facebook page have said numerous times it's 349.99 off contract.

from what i have gathered by calling cor and agent stores is that agents charge 500 and cor charges 350. i hope i am correct on this observation.

I called the Carrolton store, and they said off contract $499, bastards.

Where is the Marietta store?
 
For those getting charged $499, I would pay it, then call AT&T (611). Tell them you saw $349 off-contract in the press release, and multiple confirmations on AT&T's facebook page, and would like a refund of $150 credited to your account. I bet they'll do it without even blinking.

edit: If you're squeamish, call AT&T before you pay the $499 and make sure they'd refund you before you pay it. Or if you really want, have an AT&T rep on the line when you check out and say "Could you please inform the sales person here how much I should be paying?" Heh. :)

I'm not sure if it was a typo, but "automagically" is just an awesome word. :)

I called my local store and they confirmed that the phones are in-house, but they only had a dozen or so. The guy intimated that if I show up tonight and look pitiful, the manager might sell me one (apparently, a few have already gone out the door, and I told him frankly that if I have to wait until Sunday I'm buying it in Nearest Big City because I'm visiting my parents this weekend.)

If that happens I'll post the location later.

You guys are going to be hearing a lot from me in the coming months, as I figure out how to use my first Android phone. Fortunately, you seem like a friendly bunch.:cool:

I did the same thing. and I already configed the one so I had a fit and she said that I could have it on sunday at 11 and that she out my name on it and put it in the lock box, she also put it on my AT&T acct before learning their system would not scan it
