Root Goodbye Android Market.

Well it looks as if The Market is going to get replaced by Google Play. Went to update a few apps on the phone this morning and The Market Told me that Google Play will now be taking over. Not sure what that will mean for us guess we'll have to stay tuned to find out more.

hi.. yes got the upgrade last nite..funny it replaced the app but the old market widget stayed on homescreen with no function so i got to say my last goodby to the old market.lol it was fun and u will b missed by me.

I always say that if it isn't broke, not to fix it, but nobody pays attention to me. Probably a good thing though, we'd all still be communicating with smoke signals.

Yes it's basically the same thing however it's marking the beginning of a new era and the end of an old. I look forward to what's next

they changed it because it's no longer strictly an android app market. it now will sync your book, movie and music purchases across all google products. it's part of the reason they needed to consolidated their privacy policies.

once you go to the market you will automatocally get a prompt and it willautomatically switch it for you. you may or may not have your original market icon removed. if it does not get removed the icon is now useless. you will need to replace it with the play store icon.

what rom are you on? some roms have the market updater taken out so that it will not update. that could be your issue.

It appears I got the update with my old Icon still hanging in there.
