Here's my theory Dogmatist
true, maps 4.0 works on 1.6 along with the Buzz layer. The Buzz specific app is apparently 2.x for now but maps will do the same thing for the time being. Once setup in maps and latitude is activated you can Buzz from a desktop gmail account and (I think) it will use your phone's location. I don't use GPS most of the time but cell/wifi location is close enough. Works for me.not entirely true, you'll probably never see it on 1.5, but apparently 1.6 can get the maps upgrade (it's in the market). 1.5 mostly had maps preinstalled and thus can't be updated to get the buzz layer.
Simply put, you need to buy a Google phone. Having Android with a custom UI is like having a beer with a splash of orange juice.
You bought the phone as is. What's the problem? Do you always buy products and then expect more from them later than you were given up front?I'm really becoming annoyed with verizon. I bought my eris a few weeks ago, and every day I see site after site displaying google's new features, but my GOOGLE PHONE can't use them. I'm at the point where I just don't care about sense or HTC's addons. Sense only slowed down my phone, so now I use the stock android home screen. I'd like to also use the stock lock screen rather than HTC's, but then I need to be root, which is not possible on the eris either. Verizon and HTC, just push out the damn update already. EVERYTHING is getting at least 1.6 except for us.

There really is nothing about Buzz that I am interested in. Automatically taking all my contacts and making it so the world can see who they are? No thanks. Automatically uploading pictures from my phone to the Buzz page? No thanks. Showing the world exactly where I am? No thanks.
