Root [GUIDE]Flash your phone back to stock[KDZ/Cab]

I'm considering taking the plunge and doing this now...However I do have a question.

1)How is CTMod's stability? I really don't want to sacrifice any functionality....

edit.

bluetooth calling is messed up, the flashlight notification widget doesn't work, mms for boost is messed up but I got a fix for it.

you must of selected model lg855 instead of lgls855. Make sure it is lgls855 not lg855.

I press LGLS855 and put my s/n but it says "Please check model name and msn again."

So, I used LG855 instead of LGLS855 and it seemed to work because i'm at sw version zv9 now :]

I have the same problem as piggy,

Choosing LGLS855 and entering the S/N from my phone wont go through, it simply asks to check the model and s/n again.

Choosing LG855 (the model my phone says it is) only gives me the .pdf manuals, no driver installation abilities.

I was able to D/L the LGLS 855 driver from the LG website, but I dont know if this'll negatively impact this process.

Any advice?

I tried using this method and following it to a T, and this is what it showed in the log...

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I want to get my Marquee rooted, please, any help would be SERIOUSLY appreciated...

I was told before that if you run into this issue just use KDZ Updater or update your JAVA SDK to the latest version by googling JAVA SDK and off its website. Again make sure it is CDMA SMartphone DIAG not just CDMA DIAG. And if phone does not boot up to the S/W Upgrade mode when you launch your file that means you missed the 5 second window. It's going to take a couple of tries but you can do it.

I have the same problem as piggy,

Its fine you can download off the website. The LG DRiver Installer Software directly downloads off it anyways. So if your running into problems where it cannot find your S/N then goto the website itself and download it.

Ok I figured it out, for the ones that are having problems with the CDMA Selection dropdown I used 3GQCT - Smartphone (WM) option and the S/W Upgrade went through and did it's thing without a hitch!! :D I really hope this helps someone, now if someone can tell me how to get CWM on this thing I'll be all set!! YEEEEAH BABY!! LMAO!! ANYONE???

use playful's AIO root and cwm.

Nice! I tried the 3GQCT Smartphone before and that did not go through for me. Maybe there are different versions of the LG Marquee for Boost? I don't know at least you have it going. Maybe I'll revise the guide a little later.

The Updater and R&D tools won't run here. They show in task manager for a second then poof!
Win xp pro here.

But he used kdz to get to ZV9 and he has boost.. Shouldn't he do kdz again to get to ZV3?

Swyped from my LG-LG855 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

I would agree Bionic, I didn't see his posts in other threads... I didn't know what he was trying to accomplish until now.

before trying, Ilike to see if anyone else has any input on how I would go about going from zv9 to zv3 nothing against bionic :^p mind you I started at boost updated before I knew about rooting was at zv4 wanted a rooted phone for wireless hotspotting .. Flashed back to zv9... Rooted but I would like zv3 for marky beats :p

I am having the same issue as timssw except I could not find the actual driver for the LG855 off LG's website just some universal installer. any ideas?

I went ahead and tried after installing the universal drivers and the KDZ updater just says (not responding) after clicking on launch software update

i was having the same problem with the lg support program, let me remind you when i flashed my phone drivers did not show up only manuals because i already downloaded the drivers for cv9, when i used lg support i put in the ls855zv9...kdz file set it to cdma smartphone. diag.. and in his guide (second dude down i guess its not his guide :P) it says as soon as you hit update turn your phone on well... that did not work for me because my computer is kinda slow and when i would start the program it would freeze my computer from starting the setup so i would have to wait like 15 secs and guess when its about to start to turn on my phone but i finally got it working :P now i just got to get to zv3...

I am sorry for the misdirection i gave you. I just found out that you cannot use KDZ to get to ZV3, only ZV9. So essentially you did the right thing. I would continue on to PlayfulGod's AIO-Root + CWM, then proceed to the MBv2 for Boost first then CTMod (If you wanted CTMod). Again I apologize for the confusion.

Hey Everyone, new Marquee owner here and complete dumba$$ as well, "would you like to apply update?" oh well sure. Anyway, how many other people have performed this process to get root?

Has all gone well for everyone else before I sit down and perform this? Little hesitant but hopefully all goes well so I can get Root, CWM and one of the Rom's installed and ready to go. And since no one has mentioned it, I assume doing a factory reset at this point leaves the ZV4 update installed?

Thanks everyone!

I followed kado's 5/1 post in this topic and was able to restore the phone to a rootable state. This is no different than Monster, just easier to follow with all the files in one place.

Hey Guys,

Well like an idiot I performed the LG Update as well before I got to root so I had to follow the steps in this post to get rooted, CWM and Rom's but the good news is, I successfully did and am happily using Playful God's rom with CWM and Root. It took an hour or two just getting everything installed, Root, CWM, Rom but it's all good now.

I was intimidated at the steps at first but Kado's post has been fantastic and helpful. First thing, grab his zip file on the bottom of his post and grab OP's KDZ file in the first post, it has everything you need. Looking up the drivers with the LG app did not work for me so I pulled the drivers off of the Youtube video on how to root here. I also used that video to Root my Marquee.

On your Marquee, don't forget to go into the settings menu and under the applications tab, choose development at the bottom and choose enable debugging.

Basically install the LG Drivers. Unzip and open Kado's folder and double click on Windows enabler. If you are on Windows 7, Run as an administrator. Then click left click on windows enabler in the taskbar and it should say "on".

I installed the msxml.msi file in his folder to be safe but I'm not sure if it's needed or not.

After you have windows enabler on and the drivers installed. while your phone is off. plug it into the computer via the usb cable and it will install the drivers. Then open up the KDZ FW UPD exe located in Kado's folder, run as an administrator and make sure that you have it set to CDMA Smartphone and Diag.

My update failed the first 5 times because I was stupid and had it on CDMA, not CDMA Smartphone. Once I switched it over to CDMA Smartphone, I got it on the first try.

Once you have it set to CDMA Smartphone and Diag, find the KDZ file from OP on your computer and select it where it says KDZ file in KDZ FW UPD.

As I mentioned, I got it on the first try once I switched it over to the correct setting but basically you click "Launch Software Update" in the program and then turn on your phone right after that. It should say "S/W Update in Progress" If you did it successfully.

When you click Launch software update, the program might freeze for a bit since it does not start the update until you turn the phone on. If the Update is successful, your phone will reboot with the Sprint logo and you'll boot up your phone. My Marquee got stuck in the Sprint Boot loop so I followed 9B on Kado's steps and it worked fine. Just have to a factory reset.

Well I hope my post wasn't too confusing but after I booted my phone, I watched the root video and rooted, then installed CWM from the forums and then installed my ROM and now I'm a happy customer.

When you factory reset or do the S/W update, you don't have to worry about losing service or reactivating, I did not have to do either although I was concerned that I might have had to.

If I'm leaving anything out, check out Kado's post because I followed it and it worked for me. If you have any questions, feel free to post in here or if you need to contact me. You can email me at jsnovak@ameritech.net and worst case is, we can always talk over the phone but hope this additional post helps and Have fun,

~Novak
