Root [GUIDE]Flash your phone back to stock[KDZ/Cab]

im not sure why i cant get it to work
I think that the thing that everybody is missing is from an earlier post on this subject. I found it very helpful that someone posted that they found that there is a 12 second delay. So once you start the software wait 12 seconds to turn on the phone. This made all of the difference to me and made everything come together after many hours of frustration.:D

I have to agree on that. I didn't know about the delay, and could not figure out what was wrong. After the ? try i just waited a bit to turn on the phone, and it worked. I am glad this has been confirmed by someone else.

I think he is already aware of that. He did say when he boots up his phone it boots up normally and does not go into the S/W Upgrade mode when he runs his KDZ Updater. I'm thinking he may need to try a different computer.

same thing is happening to my friends phone that i am trying to flash. any suggestions?

Hey guys, first and most importantly, thanks goes out to everyone who contributed to this thread.

I tried to complete this tonight, and I was able to update the software and it is booting into the sprint splash screen and stuff, I also followed the youtube guide and the batch file completed successfully.

I downloaded root checker and it said I have not gotten root access. Am I missing something here?

I did get a update notice on the phone and updated the phone, Did I mess up? I did do the root process before the update thinking I was already root the update should be fine?

Do I need to just do everything over again and not update afterwards or what?

I can't say for sure, wait for someone smarter haha but you might have to do it again. After I did all the steps, my phone wont install the update. It'll reboot, try to extract and fail, then restart. I thought I remembered reading that if you did successfully root that the update wouldn't take but I may be wrong, anyone?

I downloaded root checker and and mine was successful so not sure if you missed a step or it just didn't take. I guess try it again and wait on the update to see what happens. I may be wrong again but I was under the assumption that you need root to install CWM and Rom's so I guess if you try to install either and it fails, then you wouldn't be rooted.

Take a look at Settings - About Phone - SW Version and tell us what it says. From that we can tell what you have and what you need to do next.

I was able to get my phone rooted last night, I've verified it's rooted with root checker.

My current SW version is LS855ZV9, Is there anyway to get the boost SW back? The keyboard layout on this sprint SW is different and I prefer the boost mobile SW.

So am I stuck? I am rooted and everything now if I could just figure out how to get back to the boost SW I would be happy.

I was wondering is there anyways to get back to the boost mobile? When I started following this guide I was on SW version LS855ZV4.

As far as I know the kdz only allows you to get back to the ZV9 (Sprint). Though I would recommend flashing MBv2 for Boost that will give you the Update with root intact. As for the keyboard, are you talking about the stock android keyboard or the Swype?

Put on cwm and flash the boost stock from from zip in cwm

Blooddawn posted stock rooms for boost and sprint that have root builtin. I'd post a link for you but that is harder from my phone. Just look through the all things root marquee forum for cwm install and stock roms if that is the rom you want

I cannot figure out how to get the zip to install while I am in CWM I can browse to it but when I click on the zip it just says can't install from zip, am I missing something here?

EDIT I was able to figure out what was wrong. I had not installed the CWM manager I was using the factory installed file recovery. I have installed CWM and creating my backup right now. Then I will install the ZV4 rom and see what happens!

I'm done, thanks to all the helpful members of this forum and the guides outlined by them. Thanks to those who responded to my questions as well I appreciate it.

I purchased my boost mobile lg marquee 2 weeks ago, I had no idea about rooting one or even knew about it. I stumbled upon this information online just browsing apps and such.

I already updated my phone by the time I found out you could root them. So I scoured the net looking for information or directions on how to root an updated boost mobile lg marquee. That is how I found this thread and forum.

I started with the SW LS855ZV4 update, I used this guide to back up to sprints LS855SW9 and then rooted my lg marquee from boost, then I installed CWM and downloaded the ZV4 rooted and installed it via CWM.

I am now officially running LS855ZV4 rooted, This place is awesome time to play with my phone and get all my apps installed again.

I will come back and make a long detailed post of exactly what I done and how I done it and maybe that will help everyone trying to do it.

I had to use multiple threads and sources to get through this installation so perhaps I can compile all of that info and resources into a single post.

Really glad to hear you got it worked out :)

Yeah there are a lot of resources spread out for all these processes. I ended up using Reflashed stock firmware on LG Marquee - xda-developers and all of the other posts it linked to as well when I flashed back to stock with KDZ. But yeah, now that you have CWM recovery installed, you can not only backup your whole phone and flash roms but you can try custom roms and kernals here too (some of which can really make your phone more snappy then stock). Remember to backup first incase you don't like it :)

I deleted my preloaded app social networking...I tried to reset my phone but still doesnt show up..can somebody help me get this app back.

@kado2999 and monster great instructions. My phone went into a boot loop too and volume down+ power wasn't doing it. I had to hold volume up+power til it actually rebooted then was able to get into the android recovery.

Downgrading with the KDZ gave me a lot of problems too. I kept getting WParam: 100, LParam: 52 errors in a window.

As someone said, the key is the timing. In my case, I tried turning on the phone as soon as I hit LAUNCH. And also as someone said, if your phone boots up normally, it's too late.

Well for me, it booted up to the lock screen. I immediately unlocked and gave the Power Off command. During shutdown, it went to the S/W Upgrade screen. So I think the window for upgrading is also possible during startup and shutdown.

Give that a try.
