Any news of differentiating the thunder c phones

Not heard back form koush on that yet, tho O think its more a matter of him getting to it to merge it now. Most other phones, esp the prepaid type uses init.qcom.rc as a identifier, and there are tons of those lol. I think the issue comes in on his configs on his end.

Rom manager will make a backup with no error even if you do not have enough space on your sd card, it just stops when full, generates md5 and looks like it finished properly. make sure you have more than enough room on sd if using backup...

i remembered the first time trying to use rom manager with my lg optimus m and... it totally crashed my phone and jonedy fixed it for me. i would just stay away from rom manager... i think they made that a sticky for a reason.

joneidy helped me too but I can assure you this works

I had no trouble installing it, and it worked well for me. I did go back to the GNM recovery though, just because i'm used to it, and it seemed to play better with flashing the DT a2sd (at least for me).

As with all development new devices are not supported but after time and interest in developing it becomes supported. So before you tried to do something that was not supported and probably tried to use another phones recovery and surprise it didnt work. In this instance someone has put the time and work in to make a recovery that DOES work on this phone though at the moment the steps to use it are still "sketchy" and by that I mean it is not simple as pick your phone from the lineup, you have to rename files to match one that is currently in the lineup.

How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery with ROM Manager

Install ROM Manager from the market and open it up.

  • Press Flash ClockworkMod Recovery

  • Pick any of the listed recoveries

  • Wait til it finishes downloading

  • In a file explorer copy my recovery and navigate to clockworkmod/dowload/download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/

  • Rename the recovery you just downloaded and add .bak to it.
  • it will look some like: recovery.clockwork.3.0.0.5.phone.img.bak

  • Now rename my recovery to the name of the recovery you downloaded exactly. (- the .bak ;))
  • it will look some like: recovery.clockwork.3.0.0.5.phone.img.

  • Go back to the main menu

  • Press Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again and select the exact same one from the list again. Since its already been downloaded it will just flash it now.

  • When its finished it will pop a notice up.

Now with this method the version # will be of the other device's recovery but wont affect any functions.

Changelog

  • 9/1/12011 - Rebuilt recovery to fix USB Mass Storage in recovery.

Hey PG, this isn't working, RM isn't creating the download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/ folder, it only goes up to clockworkmod/download/. I tried uninstalling and re-installing RM, but nothing is working

If you installed a diff version of CWM in RM don't reboot till you install the right one or a different recovery like GNM.

lol yes thank you for the warning, i was terrified of rebooting so I installed a custom recovery, all good for now, hopefully RM will include the recovery in their list soon

how would i manage to upgrade an ext2 partition to an ext3 using CWM?

Yea I think that options needs added as more and more phones are coming with ext4 support stock, not to mention most custom kernels support it.
