Root [Guide] How to root the Wildfire S with S-ON

Try un installing and reinstalling su

I just realized I missed the step to update Superuser through Google Play. Doing that seems to have done the trick! Thanks both of you for your help!

So if anyone else is having problems using CWM, try TWRP 2.2.2.0 (NOT 2.3).

Yes, everything's installed correctly, with the SDK tools updated. Now, I may have missed a step or two, or maybe a driver. Is there a way for me to verify that all the required drivers are installed?

I only installed the 32 bit Java SDK though; do I install the 64 bit version, too (I am running Win7 Pro 64 bit)? What about the Android SDK? Is there a 64 bit version I should be installing?

is there a good way to make more space? And is it it normal I still lost 50mb on my memory?

I started with 100mb free space and after about 15 app's I'm down to 50mb and I'm worried it's not enough.
I moved every app I installed to the SD card.
pre installed apps as Facebook and Maps are unable to move.

I removed some small bloatware. ("news, htc sense").

Thanks for the tutorial. No problem with bootloader, steps 3A and 3C nor with rooter, in Wildfire S (Yoigo Spain).
The problem now is that memory defragmentation doesn't work, just reboots the phone instead of doing the work.

Thanks in advance

Waldo

Defragmentation??? Your phone is not a pc, it does not require a defragmentation.
Try to boot into the bootloader. If you are not able to, then you have bricked your phone and nothing else can be done. If you can and had performed a nandroid backup after rooting, restore the back up. Otherwise you can go here:

A custom Rom is about the only way to do that. There are some good ones by JMZ, simonsimon34, Modpunk, myself, and others.

Is there a clear tutorial for installing a custom ROM here (or anywhere)? I liked the clear step-by-step process here to root the phone. Am seriously considering going the next step and changing the ROM - but being new at this, would love a clear tutorial or something so I can follow the steps.

Thank you!

most roms have instuctions on how to flash, but if they dont, here is how to do it.
1. Boot into recovery and MAKE A BACKUP!
2. Wipe data/factory reset.
3. Wipe cache partition
4. Wipe dalvik cache (in mounts and stoage)
5.install zip from sd
6. Chose from sd
7. Install zip(rom)
8. Reboot
9. Wait a little, then enjoy:D

Hope this helps.

Use htcdev.com it makes it very easy.

Usually when that happens that means you can skip the first step where you have to update the RUU. Just go to the next stage.

i'm using HTC wildfire s. I don't know what Ruu chose to my region.
Software version is 2.26.771.2 running on android 2.3.5..

Please HELP ME to find my RUU rom
P.s I'm from pakistan

okay first i will say Thank you.

I successfully rooted my phone but now it's stuck at the CM9 boot screen :(
The first boot of a rom always takes a good 5mins. But if it's been more than that, I suggest you try flashing it again. If it doesn't work, maybe for some reason it doesn't work for your phone. Try CM7 or CM10 (They are better than CM9 in my opinion anyway)

@freshy: What error do you get exactly?

@Rusty, I think there should be an Asia RUU. Try that one.

I can't get the fastboot flash recovery to work in step 4A. It says '\' is not recognised as an internal or external command.

I just don't get Step 4A - Part 4. What do I type exactly?

That file is in C:/Android for me to - do I run cmd as admin - I'm really stuck.

Thanks
