Root [GUIDE] Howto Root LG Motion 4G

I did everything it said and the command prompt said everything and yeah , but when I get on my phone it is still really slow and I don't have root permissions. :/
Help

Where are you stuck at?

My phone won't allow me to check USB Debugging and I do all of this and all I get from the command prompt is
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
But that's it .

Are you trying to check it while it's plugged in? If so unplug it then do it.

I was talking about psycho in the quote.

But now you can't root???

The same thing is happening to me, I have installed the drivers and the app and have run the script, i have a rooted acer iconia a 500 and rooted my old phone, so i know a little about what im doing. but this is what happens, it runs to this point: (im a new user so i cant post links, but just take the spaces out of the url below)

https: //dl.dropbox.com/u/104742831/Rootproblem .docx

then stops, I've waited for over an hour, restarted my computer, restarted my phone, idk what to do now, and my phone is running WAAYY slower than normal but i don't want to have to factory reset, any help would be great :)

I reset, my phone is fine now. But I still can't root, I don't think its my computer.. are you guys sure this method works with the 4.0.4 update recently released?

You may have got a bad download, happened to me, try to download a different root file, and yes it will root both software versions.

Hi all

Thanks aaronmy for risking your phone and bringing root to the LGM

I have tried to make the rooting process a little more automated.

I know some of you guys like to play around with these scripts and stuff, so I am gonna upload what I have done so far.

Making these type of scripts really is not my thing, I usually only put what is needed in.

I am sure some of you can make this really fancy and such.

This zip has all the files that you need

When you run the script it will install the

IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk
Open it
Reboot the phone
Open IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk again
Reboot the Phone again
Open IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk again
Then it will try to push the root files to the right place
Uninstall the IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk
And reboot the phone one more time

I called it One Click Root, because that is a pretty common name for these things, but maybe that name is not so appropriate.

anyway have fun

lgm1clickroot.zip

This is my first attempt to root a phone, and I'm doing it on the lg motion 4g. I've come to the command prompt screen and the last entry is *daemon started successfully*

It has now been 45 minutes and I was wondering if this is normal or if it's not, what do I do, now?

Thanks,

steveovegas

Drivers probably didn't install correctly, after installing restart your computer.

Okay, i re-installed the drivers, and the root worked :)
but since rooting i have experienced many problems with my phone,
1. My SD card, it is a 32 gig, very nice San Disk micro SDHC card but my phone began not recognizing it and for a day or two it would connect on and off, i decided to copy the data from my SD card to my computer and switch the SD cards from my tablet and phone, this worked and i have had no problems with the phone or the SD card since, any idea why that happened?
2. I am trying to update my apps, and a few of them update but others download and then when trying to install them my phone pops up the message "insufficient storage space" which is completely untrue i have over 3 gigs left on the internal and over 8 gigs left on the SD card, but i tried deleting some apps anyway, this didn't work, can anyone help?

OK, this method is not working for me.

I installed the drivers, I checked USB debugging, unknown sources, installed the APK, opened it, restarted, did the command prompt cd, then root, the first two lines that were quoted in the original thread appeared in the command prompt, about the daemon. After that, it was about a minute later, it listed a whole bunch of errors, about /su/ directories being missing, and non-existent, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I didn't have the foresight to take a screen shot, or at least block copy the command prompt, but maybe someone can help me out? E-mail me rather than answering here, much better chance I will get the reply.

Please help, really want a root :-(

EDIT: ok, after this failed attempt, every time i entered settings, i would get a "settings has stopped" message. When i opened my notification bar i would get an "Android UI has stopped" message. Had to do a factory t reset and then restore from backup to get my damn phone back.. Anyone have any idea why thus happened me? Would like to try again, but not if the result is going to be a factory reset...

How do you "install the .apk"?

For us new to Android phones, these instructions aren't of much use as they assume that the user knows how to "install the .apk" when we don't.

Same with "Install the drivers"

How does one install the drivers?

I asked these questions above and received no answer. I'm not asking to be spoon-fed, just for basics.

Anywhere I can find step by step instructions?

Thanks.

okay, like many many people in this thread have said....you do not need to use command prompt.....double click the root.bat file...and it will do it itself..

make sure you'll be on Charging only and usb debugging is enabled..install the apk..open it...restart...plug phone in...double click root.bat and BAM you should have root...it may take a couple retries...but it works..
