I rooted successfully, thank you!
But MYEYES, make sure the 04XR is extracted directly to your HD, which should be the C: drive. Then just run Command Prompt as Admin, put in the C:o4xr etc, hit enter, then type root, hit enter, and thats it!

Download Superuser and Titanium Backup and you can start deleting junk, be careful!

I dont know what happening but I followed this root method to the T, for my sons LG Motion. When I get to CMD and yes i have admin rights, after the cd C:\o4xr I get to the next line and type root, and I get ""root is not recognized as a internal or external, operable program or batch file"" What am I doing wrong! Thank u

I luv it when break throughs happen like this,,,
OK, so I was having a problem and couldnt figure out why? Well, I use Winzip, and when I right click and click unzip to the same file, it unzips and makes a cloned file of the O4XR file, And when I pasted it to C: it would recognize the o4xr, but wouldnt execute the root, bc the o4xr was like this o4xr/o4xr/"root filles" After I removed the first o4xr file that cloned the original, the root execution worked like a charm.

Do you have the Optimus Regard? Because I see all your other phones are cricket

Jeez christ guys, the links in the beginning of the forum are wrong!!!
They point to the wrong root kit---onxr instead of o4xr. After downloading and running onxr, all of my web browsers stopped working! And superuser was not installed even though the script finished sucessfully.

SystemBackupTest now fails with error message "Unfortunately, SystemBackupTest has stopped" so I'm unable to root correctly.

Any ideas besides running the unbrick process?

All the links in OP are correct probably the only way you can fix is unbrick method

@Gman9831 - i see what's going on. The attached files in the post are correct (point to o4xr) but the link inside the steps in the post point to the wrong file (onxr).

Someone, please clarify the steps in the post intro so that other people don't make the same mistake I did. Thanks!

To clarify, this is the post in question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818502

Attached files are good. Links in original post are not.

Yesterday i downloaded all necessary files to root, installed PC drivers, installed system backup test from root of SD card but never attempted to root i just wanted to have all my ducks in a row for when i was ready to root. Then today i had my 4G hotspot turned on and using my other device, when suddenly device losses hotspot connection on my LG i hit the red hotspot button and i get a error saying Unfortunately Settings Has Stopped. Now i am unable to use or open hotspot i can't use screen shoot it says because storage is already in use, i can't update my phone through update screen it says phone is not registered. I called metro they did a system reboot from there end somehow still didn't work. Does anyone know if this had anything to do with me starting the root process? Maybe that test program i installed? Any ideas?

Maybe installing the test program did it, try uninstalling the test program and reboot. If that doesn't work, you may need to unbrick to fix the settings.

Thanks for the great write-up and contributions from all.

I'm new to using the Android O/S as I was an iPhone user for the past few years and JB'd my iPhones, and I would like to Root my LG Motion although I find some of the terminology a bit confusing.

The instructions seem somewhat straight forward, but is there an installer app I need to "Install the drivers" for example?

I'm a bit confused on some of the actions on installing/updating files and drivers as I'm a complete newbie when it comes to the ICS O/S and Rooting.

I'm not asking to be spoon-fed or hand-held, but was wondering if there is a guide to the basics so I don't brick my phone?

In other words, imagine someone with zero knowledge of how to root an Android device reading the instructions and reading "install the drivers" - IDK the process of installing the drivers, so I'm lost on the first step.

I'm assuming I would connect the LG Motion to my PC via USB with USB Debugging turned "OFF" and run the executable driver file v.3.7.2?

Thanks.

Hello,

I am having a problem with the last step using ox4r. When ox4r is running it doesn't get past the "daemon started successfully" prompt. The drivers are updated and the phone was put in charge only mode with usb debugging enabled.

Any help is appreciated thank you!

Did you reboot PC after installing drivers? Try that :)
