LG Whiz Kid
EDIT: A NEW Guide has been created and IS working MOSTLY correct:
http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-...e-porting-lg-vortex-optimus-t-v-s-roms-m.html
Edit: This is mostly for the devs if they want to port something from the OV to the OM
(I'm sure they know this already)
But if you want to try out another ROM from the OV and maybe kindly ask a dev if they could port it to the OM then here's how you test the ROM.
Original Post:
Idk if this is new and if anyone knew this or not...
I flashed 2 Optimus V ROMS to my Optimus M with the same results:
Flashes and installs correctly (check)
Touch Screen works (no)
Buttons work correctly (no)
So I changed the boot.img in the .zip file to the one from Bobzhome's
CyanogenMod (I'm sure you can use others as well) and this is what I got:
Flashes and Installs correctly (check)
Touch screen works (check)
Buttons work correctly (check)
Connects to MetroPCS (of course not)
Edit:
Camera works (check)
Bluetooth works (it turns on without errors, I haven't connected it to anything)
GPS works (same as bluetooth)
Wifi (nope, it says error)
Sound works (check)
So the second ROM I flashed was this one
[ROM] ICSandwich2.3.7 - Final Edition [January 9, 2012]
Its confusing to me because it says ICS but then it says 2.3.7 which is gingerbread, also it is a cyanogenmod ROM.
Is that ICS or a themed Gingerbread??? (End of original post)
EDIT:
DO NOT UNZIP AND REZIP, USE WINZIP OR 7ZIP TO REPLACE FILES, UNZIPPING AND REZIPPING WILL CAUSE IT TO NOT FLASH AT ALL!
EDIT:
As soon as more issues are worked through, a more complete guide will be made. Please feed back if you are trying this and there are posts that say how to fix wifi (continue reading through the posts).
*You can do this to other gingerbread ROMs from the Optimus S or Optimus V
*Froyo ROMS have not been tried and it may be different to fix wifi (try the methods in the posts below and please feedback with results)
*ICS will not boot with this method but another method may work (maybe try the boot.img from the ICS that does boot on our phones)
