Root [Guide]ROOTING HTC android 2.2.1 or lower with unrEVOked - Windows (updated 20th December 2012)

OK first of all, UNINSTALL ROM MANAGER ;)

Seriously though, UNINSTALL ROM MANAGER!!!!!

Have a look at Teppic74's rooted stock GB...

Maybe a good place to start. Rooted stock with a2sd+....

[ROM] [20/08] Pre-rooted Stock Gingerbread (3.14.405.1) [Optional Mods] - xda-developers

Hello,

I need your help. I've successfully flashed this ROM into my HTC Desire. When I restored all the apps and data with Titanium everything seemed to get back into place. I was trying to change the wallpaper and it did not work therefore I decided to restart the phone. Now when I get to type my password for the lock screen it gives me the info that I am typing the wrong password. Without the correct password I can not access my phone.

What happened?

Not connected is fine. I find it odd that the phone does not respond when turning it on in this way. What about fastboot (back and power)?

clear storage will wipe your SD card. You have to go into recovery via that menu and then wipe data / factory reset

You can use gparted whilst the sd is in the.phone. there are apps to partition via the phone itself but they're not recommended.

Forget that for now, we need to get the goldcard working first...

ok so in that case should i format the card and recreate the goldcard without a partition ? Then retry the ruu via pc?

may as well, yeah. We dont need that partition yet.... Although you should be able to make a partitioned card gold.... have you a spare?

It can be as tiny as you have got as long as it has sapce for a couple of MB's

Make this into a goldcard if you can then and then you still have your partitioned one safe.

hooray, i used another sd card formatted it and ran the goldcard tool, followed this after success with the ruu and all has gone well. so whats my next move?

Hi, SUroot, just a note to say thanks for this guide and the FAQ. It was a lot of reading but I successfully upgraded my phone to Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 at the weekend with a 1GB sd-ext partition and the s2e app meaning I have memory to install apps again at last. Thanks to your info (and some other contributions on here) I knew what I was doing most of the time and the process was mostly pain free.

No need to keep it in. Give it a go hopefully will work without downgrading

OMG OMG i have rooted the phone, wow after such a journey i have succeed.

ok so can i now switch my sd card back to the one with partition?
and what do i do next? back up? how do i get a custom rom on it? do i have to have a certain one? i need this apps2sd as well.

thanks for you help so far i couldnt have done this without your help.

Ok cool, now you're rooted.

Follow the links to my FAQ in the first post and have a good read. Lots there about ROMs, backups and how to do things..

Well done, got there in the end. have fun.
