Thanks so much for the help!Yeah was worried the phone was going to start getting boring over the last few months of the contract. But now with the option of Custom ROMS I feel I could probably keep the phone for another few yearsThanks so much for the help!

Can you possibly point me in the correct direction for information about how to do that?![]()
1)check this http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/339974-other-than-cm7-any-other-good-roms.html
3)no
4) if you do nandroid backup, you can revert back but as rooted.
you need RUU if you want your phone as when bought

Thanks for the help,
I have one more doubt
My recovery is on Amon RA 2.0.1 due to pvt4 40000 device (HTC Desire GSM Middle East Version).
So is it advisable to install the ROM's below with Amon RA 2.0.1 / pvt4 40000 device? I would like to try one by one copying the related ROM to SD card directly and run it from recovery
1) CyanogenMOD CM7 7.0.3
2) Gingervillain 2.4
3) Redux v1.2
4) Oxygen 2.1.3
Thanks in advance![]()

yes boot into recovery manually (Amon RA) to flash the roms.
DO NOT use ROM manager. Infact, even if you have erase 20000, do not use rom manager.
its fione, just make sure you do a backup first

Yes I am done with "update-oxygen-2.1.3-signed" . Its working fine as of now. Thanks for the help from such a great forum
Really good guide, thanks. Rooted successfully
I made some notes as I went along of steps I thought were useful that weren't covered:
*Make a gold card
*When downloading HTC Sync, there's two versions, one called 'NAM'. I believe this is the North American Market version. I used the other one.
*Uninstall ATK
*Turn off WiFi
*Enable installation of non-Market apps (although somewhere else I saw it say disable!)
*USB charge only
*Android 1.0 will appear not to install properly on XP, that's ok
*If you forced all apps to SDCARD set "pm setInstallLocation 2"
*Before running unrevoked, make space on your phone

i rooted my pvt4 40,000 with 3.3 which was succesful and i now have superuser and recovery (cwm) but i cannot do a nandroid back up!
says E:cant find MISC and other similar.
having read i should of used 3.21 is this the reason why?
if not as the root is on there why won't nandroid back up?
