Root (Guide) (WIP) Apps safe to remove

I've been using root explorer and going in using multi-select, deleting .odex and .app in the system/app folder, but they still appear on my home app screen, then, deleting corresponding files under /data, the icons have been replaced by little green droids, and are still there, but now occasionally I'm getting a 'home has stopped working', etc.

What's going on?

How might I use titanium backup to fix this and batch delete everything that bloats up my Motion?

I did, it took two reboots, which I guess makes sense, I've seen that posted here and there, sometimes a process takes two times, it seems. It's worked by now, they're gone. My next things are -

We need a 'definitive' list, not only for Motion, but for LG, Samsung etc etc... and on all different carriers. A 'Master List' if you will. Something tried and true. That would be epic. What can be taken off, how easily it might be done (root vs no root removal), etc.

Same thing, but for roms. Looking (both lists) for patterns which repeat themselves, a total crackdown of all the shells (does that even make sense? still in the b00nd0cks of n00b3ry...); a total comparison, phone to phone, os to os, carrier to carrier, of all that which connects android, what we can learn from one to the next, but in a huge tome of a text, something which spills all the guts and beans.

As it is, I'm still waiting to see when we can get rid of books, movies (as in first post = brick if removed), and so forth.

I like how they named 'em LGthisandthat. I wonder if the system is looking for that naming convention as part of it's integrity checks.

I tried using Rom Toolbox lite version to uninstall the apps in the list. It says it did remove them did two reboots and the apps also still show up in my app drawer. Should i try a different app to uninstall?

im saying cuz im gonna delete everything that is mentioned above bt im saying other things like Google books(or w.e its called) that cause a soft brick

All Metro crApps can die. com.lge ones I would be careful with.

1) Is "MyExtras" a "com.lge" one? Or can it die? I have no idea how to determine whether an app is "com.lge" or expendable.

2) Can "MyExtras" be uninstalled? "MyExtras" is not listed as a safe app to remove in the Guide at the top of this thread (the original post). However, in this post, "http://androidforums.com/lg-motion-4g/617622-1-5ghz-1-2ghz-one-do-you-have-2.html#post4986719", Nash Enders said that he removed it with Root Explorer. I followed the thread to the end and never saw where he indicated he had any problem after removing it.

3) I noticed that after I disabled MetroPCS Easy Wifi, it still appears in the Apps list as "Disabled". However, after I uninstalled MyExtras, it no longer appears in the Apps list at all. Is there significance to the apps that remain in the list vs. those that no longer appear?

Thanks for the help! Greatly appreciated!
Carol

I've been reading older threads, trying to learn all I can about my phone. I came across this head-scratcher (for me, probably not for you gurus!).

In the thread: http://androidforums.com/lg-motion-4g/616251-things-i-found.html,
Easy way of figuring out what can be uninstalled
Click the gear icon in the upper right corner when in the app drawer...apps that can be uninstalled will have a red circle with an X on the top right of the icon

On my phone, the stock apps with the red circle and X are:
IM and Social
M Studio
Mail@metro
Metro411
Pocket Express
Polaris Office
SmartWorld
(I uninstalled MetroPCS Easy WiFi and MyExtras, so I can't check those.)

Is there any correlation between the two posts? None of the apps on the second list appear on the first list.

Thanks,
Carol

I would like to request that you put "LG Motion 4G" in the title of the OP post. This is so that even people who are unfamiliar with how forums work will not be confused about what this is for. ty

I know this is the thread for apps safe to delete without bricking, but i just wanted to say that i bricked my rooted motion twice trying to install Beats audio. Luckily the unbrick method works awesome. I did it twice just to confirm that it was Beats, so im not trying it again.
