Root (Guide) (WIP) Apps safe to remove

I was able to remove the stock launcher completely with Titanium Backup, it doesn't cause a soft brick or makes morningcall cry. BUT you need to install a replacement launcher first, I'm using Nova Launcher with no problem.
ONE ISSUE though is that if you go to "settings" and press the "home screen" option the settings menu will close. But other than that you're golden :D

GOOGLE CHROME is safe to remove completely with Titanium Backup

just add it to the system app and freeze or set ur launcher as default
Thanks for the advice. I have holo launcher in system app. I haven't removed the stock launcher but I'll test it out and see if i get the same issue.

How do i uninstall the system launcher and replace it with Go Launcher. how do I get to Go Launcher into the system apps

with a root explorer(granted yu have root) go into /data/app/* and find go launcher. copy it and paste it in /system/. rename as u wish i would rename it "Launcher9.apk" or something like that with no quotes. now move it to /system/app/* and reboot immediately! i dont recommend removing the stock launcher...

okay pasted it renamed it to launcher9.apk can can I uninstall the app because it really doesn't seem like it did anything. cause with go and automatically starts even before doing this

i would strongly recommend to disable them instead of removing them, since some apps may cause a morning call or security error @ boot.

Hey guys, I was freezing some apps with Titanium, and then I restarted my phone and it just shows the "metropcs" logo intro, I can't get into the system. I cannot do anything. What went wrong? Help. :(

Try as hard factory reset. If that don't do the trick, it's the unbrick/unroot method for you homes.

First off thanks for the list of files safe to remive. Now mt question for you is that i was perusing the files in my phone and i noticed that when i deleted some of the apps it left the corrosponding odex file in my phone. Example would be metropcs my extras. App is gone but odex for it isnt. Can i delete these files?

Yupe. Odex are basically important info of the apk so that it can load faster when being loaded. No apk = no need for odex.

What other guides?
I saw different threads discussing what applications were / were not safe to remove.

Strange, for as of now, I can only see three, however, two are automated ones, and the third one is this one I am posting on. Perhaps I was in over my head while trying to cross read them all.

So what the F***, i read in this thread emergency alert was NOT to be deleted
but i see it on the list

;)admins Please choose a list, stick it and lock it
and only put confirmed apks on it;)

Unfortunately, keeping a single unified list isn't so easy when there isn't a single person dedicated to the task. I do not know if firenemesis7 is keeping the list updated or not.

The automated apps removers were based on this thread, but additional things were found that could be deleted.

These additional apps are apps that I find useful and I wouldn't delete. Most of the apps listed on this thread are bloatware apps. Most of the apps listed in the other threads are bloatware + LG stock apps.

LG stock apps are apps that came with every LG phone produced in that time period. Quickmemo for example is an LG Stock app. It came with every LG running ICS. But stuff like MetroBackup, Rhapsody, MetroBlockit, etc. are all bloatware.
The other lists removes bloatware and LG Stock apps. You can safely delete the Calculator, but would you really want to? You can delete the MMS.apk and it won't brick, but you won't be receiving text messages.

My point is, there are different opinions of what people think is safe to delete. If you want a whole list of apps that won't brick you, you can delete all of them and not brick, but your phone may not work properly. If you want all the apps that won't brick you and your phone will keep on working, you won't have Quickmemo, calculator, alarm clock, backup, chrome, metroweb, maps, memo, music, play store, etc. Your phone will still work, but it will just make calls and text...unless you remove the keyboard apps too, then it's calls only with a Google video player :p.

if you flash one of the custom kernels, you can remove any apps you want and it wont brick your phone. but you must be on "F" firmware unless the kernel in question flashes "F" aboot.
