Hands on w/ Galaxy Note 10 / 10+

Thank you for linking the review NA. I'm at work, but I'll watch this later or tomorrow. I'm interested in this.

I didn't realize until I watched the vid you linked that the 10_ has two ram options. I want the 10_ with max ram and max storage. I'm not likely needing the storage space or the ram... but I want. :)
Not all areas get all options.

For example, AFAIK, the UK will only get the 256 10, but both the 256 and 512 10+

I will not be an early adopter either. I'm waiting for OCN''s and other buyers reviews first. I like to buy in late fall through early spring anyway. I have more time to mess with setting a new phone up just the way like during that part of the calendar. I hate to rush though such things.

Well, I can't believe this thread isn't here yet, so here goes... Note 10+, Aura Black

She's beautiful. I was quite surprised at how similar it is in size (the frame,, not the screen) from my Note8. I was expecting it to 'seem' bigger. It was a fairly smooth activation process on Vzw. I had to restart it in the middle as the PlayStore wouldn't let me update any of the preinstalled apps until after the restart. Also, since my eyes aren't the greatest,, it would have been nice to be either be able to change brightness and/or switch to dark mode earlier in the setup process.

I found it helpful to change the power button actions as soon as possible so a long press would bring up the power options instead of you-know-who.

So far, so good. It's still early in the move-over work. Phone numbers and calendar first, I think. Apps one at a time. Fingerprint setup is very cool!

Good luck, all.

F*** me this screen is BRIGHT!!!!!.

On my S7 Edge I nearly always used maximum brightness. This nearly blinded me when I did so.

I actually quite like having the power button on the left (and yes, I've liked Bixby, a long press gives me the power menu).

The transition wasn't entirely seamless.

Firstly, it picked up the last backup from my S7 Edge immediately I logged into my Samsung Account. That went through with no issues.

For some reason, SmartSwitch wouldn't recognise the wired connection. But it worked wirelessly. Took about an hour.

But I now have all my old apps, including some that are discontinued in the Play Store! And they work. This is important because one of them sets all my alarms automatically from hashtags I put in my calendar entries.

So far, so good.

Agreed..... the screen is amazing!!!!!!!!

Spent much of the night with Smart Switch and updating the OS as well as my apps.

Currently figuring out what wallpaper for the home and lock screen I want to use.

Edit: I also like where they moved the fingerprint reader. It's more convenient to have it on the front then in the back. I can just set my phone down and unlock without having to pick the phone up or enter my pin.

so day one first impressions:

WOW!!!!!!!!
it is a phone that is huge both in scale and feel except when in my pockets. it feels just like my note 8, but the screen just seems so much more bigger then it really is. i have spent most of the day just getting the lay of the land, making phone calls and texts, playing games, and testing the camera.

after all that the battery life is amazing:
screenshot battery life.jpg

not bad for a 41% screen time with an estimate 4 more hrs to go.

tomorrow i plan on taking my dog out, not sure where.....maybe the dog beach or out hiking some where.

so far this waaaaaaay outshines my note 8......i can't say how much an improvement over the note 9 is, but this thing is incredible. it is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside.

i'll post tomorrow to see how day 2 with the note 10+ goes.

edit: i have not the chance the play around with the s pen....i'll try that tomorrow. i also want to try out the ar doodle as well.

Alita? As in Alita:Battle Angel.? Is that a game or something now? I saw the movie in the cinema a while back.
yeah it is a game....LOL.....i actually forgot i had it, until i was setting up my phone. i saw it and decide to give it a go....it is a hack and slash rpg game from what short time i have spent playing it.....it is not bad so far.....we shall see if it is like all android hack and slash games (which is all the same continuous monotony with nothing really new)......LOL

Yes, the screen to body is very impressive.

Compare with my S7 Edge...

150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 mm - 157g - S7 Edge
162.3 x 77.2 x 7.9 mm - 196g - Note 10+
+11.4 x +4.6 x +.2 mm - +39g - Difference!

And the screens

5.5", 83.4 cm² (~76.1% S:B) 1440 x 2560 ~534 ppi - S7 Edge
6.8", 114.0 cm² (~91.0% S:B) 1440 x 3040 ~498 ppi
+1.3" +30.6 cm² (+14.9% S:B) ==== x +480 -36 ppi

Not a huge difference considering the massive screen increase! Putty the ppi has dropped though.

As for power usage, after 12 hours I'm still over 20%. No estimate yet as it's still learning.

I'm a little underwhelmed with the battery life.

It lasted around 15½ hours.

if you are getting anywhere from 12-15 hrs of battery life with heavy usage, for me that is a huge improvement over my note 8. with the note 8 i was getting maybe 8 hours, if that, with heavy usage. it was the main reason why i got a car charger and mount in the first place.

i mean i'm talking about over 40-50% of screen time being on. with watching youtube videos, playing games, playing around with the settings, checking and writing emails and text messages......this phone is truly a work horse so far. when i'm at work or out on the road i never ever have to worry about battery life.

sorry i was looking for this thread and i for some reason could not find it.

......anyways

so here it is:
my first impressions on the note 10+ was that it has a beautiful large display. it is gorgeous. the colors cannot be beat. i first turned it on......and i just said wow!!!!!!!!

the aura glow color is shiny and eye catching. it is sad that a case has to go over it. i do have some clear cases that i have, but they still do not do it justice as when the phone is naked. but i have to protect the most expensive thing that is going in pocket.......LOL

battery life.....what can you say?????? it has a 4,300 mAh battery!!!!!!!! it last all day and then some. it is probably the first phone where i do not have to worry about my phone dying in the middle of the day. just like all things some days are better than others....but all in all i'm extremely happy with it.

have not really taken many photos or looked into playing with the camera settings just yet. i posted some photos in the photo thread here, if you want to take a look.

i still need to play around with the ar.....at some point.

looks like mr unbox therapy guy is still loving the note 10+:

i agree we do not talk enough about MST tech that samsung has put into their flagship phones and how cool it really is. Also that samsung does not advertise this enough. i do love to amaze people when i either whip out the phone or using my gear s3 frontier watch to pay for my purchases.

I like the part where he says "the dream is to leave the wallet at home". Well I've been able to do that for four years now. :D

I'm in Europe (UK to be precise), and Visa UK have blocked the use of MST over here.

However, that's a moot point really, because nearly all terminals are contactless anyway.
