Root Help optimus v black screen [new screen]

I have a newer optimus v with the screen that starts with an H. I bricked it some how with ROM Manager. (Wouldn't boot past Virgin Mobile splash screen) So I used KP500 utils and LS670ZVD to fix it. I didn't relize that LS670ZVD didn't support the new screen, so using screencast I rooted it and installed a custom recovery to install a stock 2.2.2 rom. Now when I turn on my phone its completly black. No LG splash or Virgin Mobile splash. But when it gets to the lock screen I can press the power button twice and the screen turns on.

Ls670vzd is sprint optimus s. So try the black screen fix at android central in the optimus v section. Don't know if that will help since ya flashed the ls670 firmware. Just a thought.

I used a nandroid backup to flash a stock 2.2.2 Virgin Mobile rom back on the phone. But That didn't fix my problem. If i'm not going into enough detail on the problem let me know and I will make a video to show you what I mean.

Well the ls670 firmware is already flashed on the phone and I believe that's the problem. I'm no expert but I think you need to flash the lv670 firmware to the phone to fix it. But I'm not sure if kp500 or kdz will work with our phones. Maybe a dev can chime in and give some assistance.

I believe you managed to do the one thing to permanently brick your phone. KDZ doesn't work on our phone, the lg updater tool is broken, and the ov firmware is missing the .cab file. Good luck

It's not really bricked. I can still use it. Just the screen is black untill it gets to the lock menu then you press the wake button and the screen starts to work.

I did factory reset my phone. Then used pk500 to fix it. I only lost two things. The ability to see the screen when it boots. and data connection. If I can get the data connection to work I can live with the black boot.

I had the same problem when I installed and app called spb launcher and my screen went black.I boot it in to clockwork did factory reset and phone was back to normal.and on a side note i flashed my recovery with (flash image GUI) app on market.because rom manager cause to much problem
Hope that help

I'm sure you mean well, but to factory reset a rooted Optimus V = BRICK.

I think i'm just going to leave it alone for now unless someone finds a solution for the VM670ZV5 firmware. I turn the phone on and wait a couple of mins. When it gets to the lock screen I press the power button to put it to sleep then wake it back up. Then it works! Everything works besides 3g. I think this is because I have the sprint radio or something.

Yes. I hate to be the one to tell you, but because you flashed the Sprint radio, your 3G will never function again. Flashing a ROM is one thing, but flashing the radio is very bad news. There is no way to fix that.

brotherswing is right. The other problem you have is neither the zv4 or zv5 firmware works. There missing a file that's important. Only LG and VM know whats in the file exactly, and they ain't saying.
WiFi only unit is what you now own. Sorry we couldn't help.
You should now go to the S forum if you want to mod it.

Yup, aside from the home and menu buttons being reversed, for all practical intents and purposes your phone is now an Optimus S, not an Optimus V.

So I think i've come up with a solution. Buy a replacement screen off of ebay, flash the newest optimus s firmware and sell the phone as an optimus s on ebay for $70.

That's not what benslgdroid is saying. You basicly would have to change the hardware inside. The radio's are what communicate with the towers.
You can change the outside all you want, it's still a V with S firmware crammed into it, with no phone or data service. It's a WiFi only V, that can't be covered up.
