Root Help Please!

So I totally bricked my phone and its infuriating. I rooted my phone, downloaded some themes, and mid reboot, it stuck on a blank black screen. I pulled out the battery and tried a standard startup just to find the same screen. I did a hard reset (wipe and everything hoping that it would work) only to find out there was a special way I had to do it with rooted phones. Now I don't know what to do and I need help, please!

It's an LG Optimus V, I couldn't tell you which version I have because it only loads to a blank screen. I just held down the power+home+volume button and wiped it and rebooted it, but that didn't do anything. I don't know what else to do.

You need to read before you do this type of thing. You can't flash themes over a stock ROM. That's probably where you screwed up. Find a custom ROM you want to try here. Your phone is screwed until you find a custom ROM. Hold volume down, home, and power to get into custom recovery. WIPE. Flash the ROM and hope for the best.

branderson: All is not lost.
Do you have the USB drivers for the phone installed onto your computer?
Do you have the Android SDK installed on the C: drive of the computer, with the path to the adb.exe (in the platform-tools folder) in the system path?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's ok. Just let me know what, if any of the above, you have done so far. I'll give you links and instructions to the rest.

This is the first step in recovering your phone. Be patient and all will be ok.

OK.
Click on this link: http://www.lg-phones.org/wp-content/uploads/LG-Optimus-V.zip this is for the LG Optimus V USB drivers.
After installing onto computer (with phone unplugged from it), reboot computer to allow for the install of the other two drivers. After reboot, plug in phone to finish install of the drivers.

Then go here: New pre-packaged ADB installation
With the phone plugged in to the computer you should (even though your stuck on the splash screen) be able to see a device number after typing in "adb devices" into a command prompt (if you don't know what this is just ask).
If you don't get the proper output, go to the next link in the tutorial, which shows how to set the path to the adb.exe manually (if you still need help with this just ask).

When you get this done (or have problems) just let us know.

Ok.
Go here: [FIX]Black screen with custom recovery and custom roms - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com. go to the bottom of the post. "attached files" you will see the Xionia recovery. Download it. Then extract it and rename the extracted recovery.img to just vrecovery.img. put the zipped portion on your SD card. Put the extracted portion that you renamed on the SD card.

Go here: https://m.box.com/view_shared/3uqp2tb6yy2np2hxlmsz and download the flash_image and put it on the SD card. Do not put either item in a folder, just put near the bottom of the list of folders.

No we need to see if you still have root. Plug phone into computer and open a terminal (command line interface) and type in:
cd ..
cd ..
cd SDK/platform-tools
adb shell (if you get a # your good, if not type in next line)
su (if you still get a $ then your not rooted anymore).
If you got a # we can proceed. If not we need to re-root your phone using the ZV9 update root method.
let me know what you get.

When you have everything ready, let me know the best time to help with the hardest part. We will both need to be up and on the forum at the same time so I can walk you through the hardest part.
I'm in Eastern Standard time USA and it's now 10:46pm

I didn't get a # or a $, it just said device offline in the end. Does this mean I have to re-root using the ZV9 update you just mentioned?

Also, the next few days I have classes cancelled (college student) and will be available online every day after noon (central time) so 1:00pm your time.
