Root Help - possible bricked phone

I am trying to go back to stock.I have booted into cwm mode and dropped the recovery.img in the folder on the mobile drive. Next, I connected the mass storage and I was able to see the different files so I can extract the stock triumph 1980............ My instructions say to extract to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. When I search the folders, there is no folder by that name (when I looked on the pc through mounting and also through es file explorer through phone). With es explorer, I created the specified folders on the sd card.
I booted into cwm, did my formatting of system, data, cache, and formatted dalvik cache. I then went back to backup and restore, and my instuctions say to select stock triumph 1980...., but there is no option for that file. Theres 3 options under backup and restore: restore, backup, and advanced restore. I have clicked both retore and advanced restore and it keeps saying no files found. I am stuck at this point. When I turn my phone on, it does nothing. Please help as my phone does not work now.

You are not bricked. When your phone is bricked you can't even use it. It won't boot or any of that fun stuff. That would be very hard to do on this phone anyway.

I moved this thread to the All Things Root section. If your post has to do with ROMs/recovery/rooting/or anything like that, it belongs in that part of the Triumph section. You also don't need to post the same thing more than once, in more than one thread like you did here. Be patient, people will help when they can.

OK, On the SD card (either reading it directly on your computer or while the phone is hooked up with Mass Storage enabled) there should be a directory (folder) called /clockworkmod. If you can't find it, make a nandroid of what you currently have and see if it will create the folder. /backups is a sub-folder where the nandroids are stored. That would be where you would place the stock nandroid, and it is the only place where it will look when you pick restore.

i believe he was trying to put his stock backup on his sdcard through download mode... you have to do it from a booted up rom. and you put the nandroid backup in /clockwork/backup

so flash any rom that is currently on your sdcard (so you can boot to system), then mount your sdcard from booted up phone (normal mode) and retry what you were trying to do. :D

Ok, but, Im kind of freaking out right now because, like I said, I formatted the system, data, caches and I had to power it off to conserve battery until I get a answer. Now when I try to power it on, the motorola symbol comes up, thats it. It stays there, please help!!!!!!!

I am kinda freaking out right now. When I turn it on, the motorola symbol just comes up, thats it, it wont go any farther, please help!! I think I broke my phone. I cant even turn it off with the power button, I have to take the battery out.

I believe ziggy is right (from what I said in response to where you started asking about this in the other thread) that you had the phone in download mode to add the files.

In order to get the phone booting right, get into download mode again and delete the folders you added. It should boot fine after that, if not there is a copy of the files you need around here. I can help walk you through it if you find that the first suggestion doesn't work.

Also, it isn't broke. Trust me, whatever you did can be fixed. Just relax.

Boot into download mode, it will not even go to the motorola logo when you do that. To boot into Download Mode hold down Power + Volume Down button simultaneously until the phone vibrates.

Will it hurt it if I plug it into a outlet when I am in these modes because my battery life is critically low.

Ok, let me try that, thank you for helping me through this.

and if it wont go into download mode, just remove the battery and plug it into a power source for a sec. then unplugg and put battery back in and proceed to try to get into download mode again :D

and dont worry as long as you got the community here, you will usually get things sorted out. :)

no it will not hurt to plug it in... but only plug it in after your in the modes. cause if you plug it in before, it will not go into the modes

I have a card reader but not for the micro sd, just an sd and I dont have that with me right now, Im at a public wifi place.

I'd say put a copy of CyanogenMod or some ROM onto your SD card, go into the ClockWorkMod menu and install that zip. Then try to go back to stock again, but this time back up before you format.

You can charge it with the power off. So if you run out of battery you will probably have to take a break and let it charge.

FYI- You should always make sure you have plenty of battery (70%ish) before messing with any of this stuff, just to make sure you don't run into this situation with no battery.

They can't get into the SD card as the phone won't boot right now, have to get that fixed before the steps you suggested. But you suggested a good way to do it, if it would boot. :D

Im in download mode now, its saying polling. How do I get to the folders . You said to delete the folders I created, right?

ok so plug your phone into your computer, then go to "my computer" and open the newly mounted drive. then get rid of the stuff you made. only the stuff you made

Yes, lesson learned, I will always make sure I have plenty of charge before doing anything like this again.

Now, that stock triumph file is in there too, I still have a copy on my pc so would it be ok to delete with the stock triumph file in it then??

Just delete the whole "image" folder and replace it with the one I linked. This will put you on the stock ROM with CWM as your recovery.

I go into the mobile drive and the only files that come up is image file folder and cwm recovery (disc image file). Thats it.
