Root Help - possible bricked phone

I missed what you said, the wifi kicked me out so I could renew my time, did you want to continue tonight or no?
 
It looks like my download stopped at 94% I would try to pause and start again but it doesnt give me that option, probably stopped when I had to renew my time.
 
well, I think I will try to resume this tomorrow, I have a feeling Im gonna have to redownload this file again.. :( thanks for you help and support and hopefully if you have time, we can resume this tomorrow. Just to let you know, I will be on around 10 am to try to get this working, hopefully youl be free because you know exactly where were at in trying to get this resolved. Im not going to download that large file again tonight, have a good night.

Yeah, you may have to re-download it, :(.

Which means, you are gonna need your micro sdcard to sdcard adaptor and card reader if you don't have one built in, but from the sounds of it you do. Currently you have no OS installed so your phone isn't going to boot no matter what until you get an OS installed on your phone which you can do through CWM luckily.

When you replace the image folder, it has the stock ROM on it. So we avoid that.
 
There are 2 different versions of the image folder, I thought both would boot on either, but apparently that is not so. Or there is something else going on that hasn't been discussed.
 
Im the one you were helping last night. Well, last night, I put my phone on the charger and this morning, I could not turn it on at all, trie download mode, booting into recovery, taking battery out, then power it on, nothing. So, I have the best buy protection, took it in and they replaced it. Now I have a stock phone.
 
I would like to root it to see if changing prls would work to get stronger signal, plus, since Ive gotten it, its been on 1x all the time. After I test out different prls, I would like to go back to CM7, but considering all the problems I had last night, kinda scared to mess around with anything. Anyone that can help me out, stepby step would be greatly appreciated. Dont want to mess this phone up.
 
Does anyone know, I have a 8gb sd card that last night, before I had all those problems, I backed up al my apps(like 75) with titanimun backup. Now, with my phone being all stock now, will it hurt to put the 8 gb sd card in now, or should I wait till Im rooted and/or flashed the cm7 rom. Thanks for your feedback.
 
Also, I cant remember, do I have to root to be able to change prls, and does anyone have step by step instructions on how to do this?? Thanks
 
I wouldn't recommend changing your prl. That is up to you, but I can't help with that (although others could) as I don't see the need. Thus I don't have experience with that.

You are fine to use the SD card from the old phone.

There is a step by step guide to getting cwm and a different ROM on your phone. It is stickied up at the top here. Myself and others could help if you run into issues.
 
Have you heard whether changing the prl actually works or not, sinc Ive goten this new phone, its been on 1x quite a bit. Also, about my phone not being able to turn on this morning, have you ever heard of that happening too??

Your battery was probably dead.
You will get different opinions as to whether a prl change will do anything. I haven't seen anything but opinion on that matter.
