I've got a Cricket Stylo 2. Tried used kingroot 4.9.6, and it said it was successful, but now my phone gets stuck at the LG logo at boot. Tried doing a factory reset to no avail. I think I'm out of luck.

Also need to wipe all cache and data in stock recovery that might help don't hurt

Okay, last post before I crash.........
Just purchased BOOST LG Stylo 2, LGLS775ABB MM 6.0.1 ZV4 out of the box. Update popped up before I got home. Got my ADB to recognize phone, factory reset it and log catted it, caught URL and got lucky using admin in the username/password box that popped up in chrome by itself on the https:// in the logcat, it downloaded the 454.4mb kdz....!
Unzipped its 1.02gb. I got a script to switch out Kingroot's temp root to SuperSU, but......... I'm having hell with LGUP recognizing the phone. Got it to recognize it in download mode but still will not open it.
Not going a step further until this happens so I can recover.
Adoptable storage:
adb shell
sm set-force-adoptable true
sm partition disk:179,64 private (or mixed 50 instead of private for 1/2 & 1/2)
sm set-force-adoptable false
sm list-volumes all
Go ahead and let the phone format the card before running the commands, it will just format & restart during them if you don't. Don't get worried if theres a greyed out sd card listing under storage, clicking it will give you a forget sd card option.
Unless you do 50/50 or another percentage on storage there will be no difference under storage when you look. Except the 3 dot menu gives you the option to format as portable storage again.
You can't move any preinstalled apps after this but it will give you the ability to do anything you download, better than nothing and the 50/50 allows your card to be recognized by windows, the percentage you leave as portable........
gotta crash, anyone in here with any ideas helping, need the kdz file let me know

Thanks for the reply
power down your phone then hold power + volume down it will boot into recovery mode there is a option to apply a update through adb or any basic adb commands and if you go to the option in recovery to boot to bootloader that will put your phone in fastboot mode. Also if you power your phone down and hold volume up while plugging in your phone to the power cord via wall plug or computer it will boot into download mode i believe that is for flashing our .kdz firmware files thru lg flasher program for pc
I just got this Boost Stylo 2 2 days ago, caught the update with a logcat, found the URL, got lucky with admin by itself in username/password box that popped up. Downloaded the 454.4mb.zip, its 1.02gb unzipped, renamed to .kdz and updater software recognizes it as kdz, but cannot get LGUP to open even after it recognizes my phone!
Got a terminal script to replace Kingroot's temp root to SuperSU but don't wanna try until I know can flash this kdz if something messes up..........
gotta crash, said my last post was my last.............

Do You Have Access To Fastboot,Or Recovery? (Assuming Thats What You Used To Factory Rest)

If it will do you any good, I have an official update (OTA) captured... logcatted phone, found URL. Its 454.4mb, unzips to 1.02gb.
Let me know, coolbeans2016 is good contact for me @ outlook......

Considering the fact that this phone has no root available. I am thinking about switching phones. I just recently bought an Alcatel Idol 3 for $99 at the cricket store for my wife and she loves it. The only downfall that it seems to have is a bit smaller screen, other than that it is overall a better phone....

(I Already Have The Ota ,Thanks Anyway.)DO You Have Access To Fastboot On Your Computer,I Posted A System.Img,This Should Allow You To Bring Your Zv4 To A State In Which It Can Gain Root; Also Your Phone is (BOOST LG Stylo 2, LGLS775ABB MM 6.0.1 ZV4) Correct?

Unfortunately the only option I can get into is recovery mode, to do a factory reset, it doesn't give me any other options. Fastboot, etc. doesn't work. I tried every key combination possible. I really bricked it.

So, am I correct in that, with the zv3 version of the phone, permanent root can be obtained? Should we not just find a way to revert back to zv3 and then go from there?? That is, if the KingRoot method doesn't work

That's because it is a relatively new phone and not a lot of people have it. LG released the Stylo 2 PLUS a few months after the Stylo 2 so more people are probably going for the newer phone. Not the best marketing decision.

Yeah but the Stylo 2 plus has twrp & root...............

From what I've run into is, there is no way to load the FW (firmware) (kdz) even if it was available. I got the last update downloaded by logcatting my phone, trying the https:// URL's until I found one it downloaded from. But.... the LGUP doesn't recognize the phone enough to open it, there is no fastboot.......... really put a f*****g on this phone is what LG's done!

Yes it is, but there is no fastboot. When you do ADB reboot bootloader it just boots back to desktop. Any terminal requests like trying to install busybox (no root) ends with some messed up responses..........
I can get it into download mode, and LGUP recognizes it then in the .com box but still will not open it. LGUP requires a .dll file that has been released for other variants like T-Mobile, AT&T, Metro, but not BOOST.

So why did you post a link to car parts?
Thats not car parts! Lmao...
its a service advertising the onlyavailable way to unlock bootloader on lg's sprint variant of this stylo 2... which would be Boost as well....just got another update download... 276.3mb, guess this will be zv6
Any reason I should logcat & capture this download? Doesn't seem the last one I did of 454.4mb has helped anyone... js smh

Holding vol - and power, then pressing power again as soon as u feel vibrate (lg logo about to show) gets this phone (LGLS775ABB) into Android Recovery which gives the menu for apply update from sd card, update from ADB, reboot to bootloader, but it still boots into the desktop when bootloader is chosen. I'm wondering if a signed update like the one I downloaded could be used for recovery purposes with installing from sdcard?
Anyone?
