Root Help Rooting LG Stylo 2

Need to use a computer.. i tried on zv8.. DIDNT WORK.. maybe zv4-zv6 might.. dont know until we try.. but im still working on a way to flash this..

I'll try that message me with info if u can. Please
I began by resetting the phone to factory after saving all my stuff. Then i immediately selected cdma in network selection mode...i was then able to activate my hotspot again....also you can use free version of foxfi and foxfi key to hide your hotspot usage...put the free full version on your laptop and connect phone via usb and boom boost cant detect you using it...however once you reach 8gb again you have to repeat lol

DO Not.... I REPEAT... Do NOT try to flash the zv3 kdz file... It bricked my stylo 2. It does nothing now... Screen doesnt even turn on.. i flashed the kdz and it got to %99 and shut off.. phone was at %100 battery when i flashed it...

We can extract the zv3 kernal then flash it we should b able to get root if i can get the zv3 i can try to figure it out i been talking to some devs they said they help or direct me in right direction

How will you flash the kernel only without having fastboot.

To change the APN on your Boost Mobile LG Stylo 2 LS775, first make sure you have all
drivers and binaries to communicate with the device properly installed.

Hook up the phone to a usb port on your pc.

Install LG drivers from:
http://lgusbdriver.com/windows/lg-usb-driver-v4-1-1-0

Install minimal adb and fastboot:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224386526

Copy the four files adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, AdbWinUsbApi.dll, fastboot.exe from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot OR
C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot TO
C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64

Open the settings app (gray gear with background icon) in the home launcher.
Tap general then scroll to about phone and tap it.
Tap on software info, then tap the build number section 7 times.
Tap the back arrow two times then tap developer options.
Scroll down to USB debugging and tap it so it says on.

Download the file MAINROOT.zip: https://www.sendspace.com/file/qxf0m0

Extract and copy the MAINROOT folder from the MAINROOT.zip to your desktop.
Open Powershell or Command Prompt as administrator and change directory (cd)
to the MAINROOT folder.
EX: cd C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\MAINROOT (Instead of Owner it'd be your username)
Type in step1.bat in command prompt or ./step1.bat in powershell and hit enter.
You should now be in an adb shell prompt, type in run-as con and hit enter.
You now have shell system access and you can tweak the android system with these permissions but tweaking the barebones of the linux kernel will be impossible without a full root. Selinux is the culprit.

Enter below command in the adb shell prompt:
am start -n com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu/.iot.IotHiddenMenuMain

Tap LTE setting then tap APN setting.
Tap the APN you wish to change then you will be presented with settings you can tap to change.
After you've made your changes, tap the three dot menu button at the top right corner and tap save.
You can also tap the three dot menu button in the top right corner at the APN list to create a new APN
or reset APNs to default.

Do you have to do all this every time you want to change the APN, or after you've done it once the APNs become editable via normal way?
I'm also curious if new APNs have different permissions - once added are they editable the normal way? i.e. do the default APNs have some kind of weird permissions and even after they are edited with this method you cannot edit them normal way after but new APNs can be?

If I was to add all APNs of the 4 major networks in my country, whatever sim I put in the right APN will auto select?

I cant get lgup to find my phone if any body here had used it pleas help did it on two different machines same problem i installed the one that came in the kdz file and others ones still no go

You will need to run the dirtycow exploit and run-as con then use the activity manager as stated to access the menu to change and add APNs.
As long as you're sim unlocked I believe you can use APNs from different networks. You'll have to use the hidden menus network mode configuration to change to the appropriate radio config for LTE.

Perhaps you have to use the flash tool instead? Sorry if that's obviously false, I've just never heard of LG Up before this thread.

Hi everyone, i came into a issue.. I downloaded the zv3.kdz file but the problem is LG UP won't let the phone downgrade from zv8.. says the tot is smaller... I'm gonna have to find another way to flash the kdz file to the phone.. i also tried lg flash tool 2014 but so no go.. says it cant connect to server... But give me some time I'll find a way....
Did you try just adding binary zeros to the tot file
