Root Help Unrooting

So my phone has been acting up alot and I just want to unroot and go back to stock. Problem is, idk how to unroot and I think I read somewhere that you need to know what method was used to root it in the first place. I have no idea what method was used because this is how I bought the phone on craigslist. So now I wanna know if there is a way to find out how it was rooted or if it doesnt even matter when unrooting. can somebody help me unroot?
 
1. I'd just flash a stock rom myself. Then you have the out of box experience, and still can root in the future. Just watch out for the usual, over the air updates and the sort.

2. You could check the hboot, that'll point you in the right direction. My guess would be on unrevoked or revolutionary....

first we need to know what is your hboot. so power off (make sure to disable fastboot, settings>apps>uncheck fastboot) then press and hold power+vol down. this will take you to thw bootloader. at the top of the screen is your hboot. report back and we ca point you in the right direction.

we can also show you a much better rom that is stock but it has sense 2.1 and sense 3.0 cooked in. mikg3.1 is sooooooo much better then stock. we can show you how if you like. there really is no reason to unroot unless you have to. but it is your phone and we are here to help if you like.

yep use the guide that argedion linked. basically it is a two step unrooting process. bsically you flash the s-on tool to get you s-on then you install the stock recovery and stock rom via PC36IMG file. let us know if you have any questions.

The guide that was linked does not mention installing the stock rom recovery?
