help with class project! Laundry/Pub???

Hey guys. I am taking a small business course, and I need some help. We are supposed to come up with a business, and present a business plan. The business my group and I choose is called "Suds and Duds" and it is a laundry mat combined with a bar....We live near the University of Arizona, so I am hoping it will appeal to the college crowd. So would you guys use something like this, or would you have in college? We plan on serving coffee in the daytime, having wifi, and serving alcohol in the evening. So you aren't so bored when washing your clothes. Let me know what you guys think, also I am not sold on the name, any suggestions?

only reason i know of it is because a friend of mine that was a Navy nuclear power machinist mate got a job at the Duane Arnold Power Facility and when he first moved up there that's where he would go to do his laundry(the apt he rented didn't have laundry facilities).

Well guess we shall change the name. I have heard of other places like this too, but i have never seen one, and I would love it.
 
I like the idea, if I had to use a laundry mat and there was one like that around I would likely choose that one...not sure about what you could name it..."The Scrub Pub" eh kinda sounds like a place for hospital workers to meet up...You could name it "Laundry and Beer" that would be enough to get me there :p:D
 
Yeah I think it's a good idea too. Waiting for the clothes, what a drag. But with wifi and some drinking ... ;) :D

And, college kids would probably love it, especially if they are like any of the people that I knew.

okay, to be far not everyone is insane into drinking, but we've got enough to go around ;)
 
it is mandatory for myself when i do laundry at home to be quite drunk.

you could name yours something in the line of "Clean Spirits". good luck on your project! :)
 
and how will you react when some dumb drunk kid gets sick opens the washer your clothes are in and blows chunk's all over them.

Don't get me wrong having wifi and some coffee and soft drinks are cool and maybe a beer or two. I think you would be better off serving some food. Many Times I was at the laundry and wanted something to eat. Pizza, Chicken Wings, a burger simple quick meals that can help as your doing your studies. anyways thats my .02 cents for what its worth.

That is definitely a winning combo. I wish I had a laundromat like that. Every weekend I go to a laundromat down the street. All I'm able to do is sit there and play with my phone, while random strangers give me funny looks.

I like this name, maybe we will use it. I am going to class now to meet up with the rest of my group. I also really wish there was a laundry mat like that near me.
 
The last time I went to a laundry mat, there were a couple of nice young ladies washing clothes in what appeared to be some slinky negligee (I didn't want to outright stare and it was awhile ago). No telling what would've happened if there was access to alcohol....
 
So I went to class, we were supposed to spend the whole class period on our group project, and no one in my group showed up!

Maybe they wanted to try doing laundry after a few shots and locked themselves in their dryer?!?!

i went to ucsb and the little community of Isla Vista near the school did not have anything like that (at least when i was there) which is a surprise as we are notorious for our partying ways. lol

great idea. i concur with the clean spirits name.

and its a shame your classmates did not show up. they fail and you get an A in my book.:D
 
^ Agreed. @ Danaj that means you're in charge. Just say to each one separately and say "Look, we all met up except you, and decided on Clean Spirits" ;) ;D

So, I talked to one of my group members, and she loves the name "Clean Spirits", so I think you had a part in naming my pretend business!
 
For drink coasters you can use dryer sheets, that way if anyone needs them for their wash, more incentive to buy a drink. I personally don't like dryer sheets though....I'm pro-fabric softener.
 
^ That's a winning idea. Imagine if all businesses started out like this, an idea spawned from the depths of the lounge. ;D
