Root Help with half brick

Hello forum, I recently experienced a partial brick trying to flash a radio update that came with Myns rom. It crashed the phone. I was able to put the P36img or whatever on the sd card and boot into Hboot. The phone is now unrooted and I cant mount the sd card nor does the PC recognize the phone through USB. I have tried the fixes found in the thread, but I cant get anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. My H-boot is 0.97.0000.

So if I understand correctly

You are unrooted s on
You have no custom recovery
If you place a pc36img on the SD card bootloader does not recognize it?
When you plug your phone in to the computer via USB nothing happens on the computer

Ie if you go to computer.properties.manage hardware there is no advanced device etc???

Yes S is on. I have no recovery (red triangle).
I did put the PC36img on the sd card via card reader and yes the phone did update to that file.
And the computer finds Qualcomm CDMA technologies under device manager.

If s is ON you cant flash a pc36img in bootloader, need to get s-off. To do that you gots ta run unrevoked forever...

You need an ruu in pc36img format...take your card out of the phone...use a reader....delete the previous pc36img..put the ruu on your sd card. Put card in phone power on+volume down into hboot and it should ask if you wish to update...do that.

There should be a link to the ruu files in the root for dummies thread

Ok sorry not trying to take to much of your time but what is ruu? And in dummy terms how would I do what you described above. Thx.

It sounds like you already flashed a PC36IMG.zip of an RUU. What file did you flash, exactly? You say you have hboot 0.97, so what is your baseband radio version (says in hboot)? If you boot up, is everything stock?

Ive flashed quite a few PC36IMG's but I believe the first one was based on my H-Boot version 0.97.0000.

RADIO- 2.15.00.09.01

And yes when I boot up everything is stock. I checked for radio updates, tried to download and install the HTC update, but phone just crashed (vibrates 5 times, blank screen, flashing green led)

If you have hboot 0.97, and the radios the went with it (it sounds like you do), then technically, it sounds like you did flash the "correct" RUU (via PC36IMG). That being said, flashing the latest will probably fix things. Go ahead and flash this from hboot. You, of course, need to rename it to PC36IMG.zip. Since you've flashed these before, I trust you know how to do it. That should fix any issues you might have due to radio flashes, etc. Keep in mind that this is the latest RUU, and will upgrade your hboot to 2.10.

Thanks will update.

I flashed the update, phone rebooted ok, but the phone still wount mount sd card and nothing happens when I plug it into the computer. When I try to update my profile it crashes into the vibrating black screen. Now what?

Are you able to browse the sdcard from the phone, or is it not mounting, period? Obviously, there isn't too much of a problem with it, as you were able to flash a PC36IMG.zip from it (and get it on the card in the first place). As for not being able to connect it to the computer, you might need to delete the drivers first, then let it find the device again. As for updating profile, your best bet might be to take it into sprint, and have them reprovision it.

Sorry guys I am at work and way way busy no links etc with me.

Akazabam is here tho....few things could be wrong here.

Do you have another SD? Is this SD full?

Yes I used a card reader to get the file. No the sd card is not full. That PC36IMG is the only file on the card. I have tried other cards.

The rules on flashing RUU PC36IMG.zip files with S-OFF:

Flash any img file you want with the exception of an older hboot if your hboot is 2.02 or above. If you have hboot 0.97 or under, it can have an older hboot. If you flash an older RUU PC36IMG.zip when you have a newer hboot (2.02+), you end up in a situation where you keep the hboot you've got, but downgrade everything else. It causes weird problems. Otherwise, flash an RUU that matches what you've got or a newer one.

In the case of S-ON:

Flash a RUU PC36IMG.zip that matches your hboot version, or newer. You've already flashed one for 2.10, so you're stuck with that. Your problems must not be related to that. There are some exceptions to this rule, by the way. Some people get in trouble due to having manually updated their radios. It's people like this that try to flash a RUU PC36IMG.zip that matches their hboot version, but can't because they likely have an older hboot, but newer radios. With S-ON, you can't flash older radios. In any case, that has nothing to do with your problem. The point is that you don't have to flash a PC36IMG.zip that matches your hboot version as long as you flash something newer, and don't care about updating hboot. *Generally* I don't recommend ever updating hboot, but in the case of unrooting like this and troubleshooting, it's not a big deal, especially since all current hboot version are rootable. You can also get back to 0.97 if you want. It's a pita, though.

Anyway, what cards are you using? Was at least one of them stock?

sorry aka..I have always stuck with matching the hboot...and have had issues when I haven't

but I agree...seems that it is prolly something else.

Haha, well in all fairness, that's exactly what I've always told people - flash a PC36IMG.zip that matches your hboot version. I've had to stop saying that for the reasons I posted above - with S-ON, you can't always do that, especially due to having updated radios manually. Otherwise, you should have know issues flashing something newer.

EDIT: I mean, flash the version you've got, first, but only if you've never updated radios in the case of an older hboot, but don't worry about flashing a newer one, assuming you don't care about updating hboot, and all current versions are rootable (as they currently are).
