It was OTA. I just did mine. Lag is gone, at least for now. I will check what else changed and report it here. Our phones are not rooted.

MN - downloading now.

hey I may root and keep stock ROM and simply delete all the Sprint Bloatware![]()
I'm waiting to hear about this update also because I still have 1.5 and won't update to 2.1 unless they actually fix it and make it better than 1.5.
Thought I would take a chance and try the update. I am rooted but no ROM, just wanted to remove Sprint's bloat-ware. Downloaded with no issues but when I tried to install I got a red triangle with a red ! in the middle. Did a battery pull and the phone works fine but obviously no update. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Update was available for me (in Michigan) last night. Definitely fixed the dialer lag issue (so far anyway). Pleasant surprise: My available internal phone memory went from somewhere in the area of 55MB to 83.49MB. Anyone else have this happen to theirs? Anyone found anything else that this update fixed?
My daughter's Hero got the update last night...
Figures, I just rooted and installed CyanogenMod 6.0 yesterday...
Kool, how do like being rooted any difference yet

Love it! Didn't notice any difference just from being rooted, since that just gives you "superuser" access, but with that access you can do some things to improve performance.
I removed a few Sprint programs, but before really living with it for any length of time I couldn't help but flash the CM6 ROM. It's awesome. No lag navigating the phone, virtually none when placing calls, better organized, less crap everywhere...
When I posted the above I was wishing I had done the new Sprint update first to try out the supposed reduced lag before rooting and ROMing, but it appears the new update may prevent rooting (until the hacker geniuses figure out how to get past that), so maybe I did it just in time.![]()
