Holiday Gingerbread anyone?

I was up at about 3am cst, not a peep from anyone.

Either nobody has this phone, or they haven't pushed it yet!
 
I read somewhere it should start rolling out about 12pm today -- not sure if it was a credible report or not.

That seems a little late to start rolling out, but I don't see anybody posting that they got the update, so maybe it's credible.
 
does anyone know if this will fix the gps issue. This has become a huge problem for me, I am travelling all the time now and need to have a reliable gps. I have read the gps threads, and it seems unless I root, which I don't want to do, I am SOL. Thanks.

I'm using the leak, so if it's the same as OTA, then you might have fast locks and 5M accuracy like I have been experiencing. :D
 
FWIW which is not much.. I believe Verizon had a practice of droping updates on my BB Storm at Noon Pacific and usually on a Wed.
But then again, who knows

no, i believe it is coming, just maybe not today. This is on the vzw website, links are above, and it is still active. They didn't say the date, people made it up, so just because it is not today, doesn't mean it vzw is not planning it. As my VP of Engineering once told me when asked about when the product would ship, 'You will get it when you get it!'
 
I gave up on checking for gingerbread for the DC in the tech news for a while and a couple minutes after turning data on for my DC at work, I notice the icons in the notification bar are different. I thought all I had downloaded was Google Maps 6.0 and had no clue what was going on, then found out this was the OTA gingerbread!

It takes 17-18 minutes per verizon's instructions to install meaning no calls, text, etc with your phone in the mean time.

If the GPS alone is better it's beyond worth the update to me.
 
7-8 minutes in the progress bar has been at half way for a couple of minutes now...lets hope this doesn't brick my phone!! Just stock Android here...

EDIT: Another 2 minutes in and it finally moved! 3/4 of the way now

The bar just finished and my phone is resetting now. I would say the 17-18 minute estimate to install is dead on, assuming there is nothing left to do once it restarts.

4 minutes later, still on the boot screen with that red eye thingy...

another 2 minutes and the phone restarted again, back to the red eye thingy
 
Lol. Not a big fan of those eye things. I prefer a phone thats not scary. I'm running the leaked update from a few weeks ago. Works good.

Another 10 minutes and it just restarted again, though I may have missed restarts as I stopped looking at the thing.

Stock Android DC has been down for 35 minutes and still not usable.
 
WildH- No need for Snide remarks. And as for SVTP, it does work for Gingerbread on the Pantech Outbreak so maybe it will work for the Charge. Time will tell.

Agreed, why make an animation specific for a device and then have it complex to the point it doesn't run smoothly?

It wasnt meant to be snide....sorry it came off that way. I am actually quite interested in the update and hope they got things fixed.

I'm also hopeful svtp works but at the moment it doesn't work on my device since installing gb leak. Could be different on the official ota though. If someone has success with it, please post your results.

Well my phone is still unusable, 1 1/2 hours after I started the update. It just sits in the loading screen and won't do anything different after rebooting it and taking the battery out.
